Dan Rafael just tweeted that he was told Thompson will be the mandatory since Chambers declined the finale eliminator. I'm assuming Chambers didn't feel his back could heal fast enough to warrant a long delay of the eliminator.

The only way that fight would be interesting is if Wlad was legitimately poisoned prefight:nut

I'd rather Wlad fight someone new also. And view Thompson as someone who is extremely slow and plodding, with some power. Nothing special about him except his height and reach. At least he's not another blown up crusierweight. Let's not forget, Thompson was the last guy to out land Klitschko in a fight, although both numbers were abysmal.

All right. I'm gonna say it. If Wlad has to fight someone other than Povetkin after Mormeck, I'd rather it be Johnson. I don't think Kingpin would be so minimal in that fight. Wlad isn't a swarmer like Vitali. He is so timid early that it would give Kevin a chance to figure out how to execute his gameplan. I don't think he'd win mind you. I see Wlad winning a UD. But it would be more competitive than most of the Wlad fights and I think it would be a "good loss" for Johnson. In other words, a loss that teaches him something.

    Ok. I'm logging off now.:scaredas:

I still havent forgiven Johnson for the **** he pulled with Vitali. Not only did he only throw 3 power punches throughout the fight... he was cocky enough to showboat in the 12th after having lost all rounds easily.

I'd like to see them feed Johnson to Fury and then later down the road see Fury/Wlad.

But look at the difference in level of competition that Thompson and Johnson have had after their respective loses to a Klitschko. Thompson is way more deserving, and after his showing with Vitali, I never want to sit through another Kingpin fight again.

Just trying to sell that fight after his performance would be extremely hard, and in reality if he doesnt step up his competition, will never come .

I typed a long, eloquent(rare for me)response to this but my internet failed when I tried to submit it. Probably saved me some humiliation. Suffice it to say that I think Johnson still has time to prove himself and I love the slick boxer style. I don't dislike Chambers but I'd suspect we've already seen him at his best. I doubt we've seen the best of Johnson yet. Granted, noone is more critical of his persona or lack of focus than me. But I don't hold the Vitali fight against him. That Frankenstein looking monster was on Johnson from the opening bell throwing puches from impossible angles. Johnson's instincts for defense kicked in and Vitali's relentlessness(is that a word:huh) prevented him from ever figuring out how to fight an Undertaker looking fighter who has the punch output of a welterweight.

That's happen to me multiple times. Like you, usually after a long winded response. Guess time will tell if your right about Johnson, I just don't see it myself.
