Why did the IBF even sanction an Eliminator between two guys that Klitschko ALREADY KOed?:rofl:patsch

It is pointless. Give us some new blood in the Division not a bunch of retreads.

It's part of boxing. How many times did Ali give a rematch to fighters He already beat? 10 maybe?

    "Wlad/Mormeck winner".

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

What SHOULD be happening, is they should feed Mormeck to Thompson for #1 contender status. That way Thompson has a "good name" to put a nice little bow ribbon on his comeback and justify his pointless rematch (which is still 100x less pointless than Mormeck challenging Wlad).

    Thompson-Mormeck, then Klitschko-Thompson.

    NOT Klitschko-Mormeck, then Klitschko-Thompson.

    So ass backwards.

    This is good and bad.

The good is that Thompson is still elite and represents a threat to Wlad because of his size, power, and being a southpaw. Given that Thompson is newer to the sport then Wlad, it's not crazy to think Thompson might be better in the 2nd fight than the 1st. He stands a better chance against Wlad then many of the names being talked up (Fury, Arreola, etc.) and probably a better chance then Povetkin and Helenius as well.

The bad is it's ridiculous that Thompson gets a title shot after fighting Maurice Harris as an eliminator. That's almost as bad as Stiverne-Austin as an eliminator. I won't blame Goosen for Chambers/Thompson not happening, but who knows whether its really Chambers or Goosen who is to blame.

Another failed IBF heavyweight elmination tournament. Next tournament they should initially make offers only to the top 4 names that have not participated in previous tournaments.

Totally agree. But if I remember right I believe some contenders turned down the tourny like Dimitrenko and i think another or two. Wish I could find the older news when the tourny was about to start or was in the initial selecting phase.

Surely they will at least make Thompson fight somebody in the top 50 to 'earn' a shot. Hell even some other Yank like Banks, Mansour or Rodriguez will do at this stage. Anything is better than nothing. Christ even throw in Welliver if that's what it takes. I feel very dirty after saying that.

I really wanted to see his fight with Chambers too.

Kevin Johnson would get a rare KO if they fed Fury to him. Fury's cherry is being saved for a Klitschko.

KJ vs Wlad would be a good fight if KJ actually did something to deserve it, like beat a live body.

As for Tiger getting a second shot....good on him.....he's gonna be 40 y/o has paid his dues, again, and did offer Wlad a decent challenge in their first meeting. IMO....at his age, he shouldn't have to wait on Chambers to figure out how to call a chiropractor into camp:rofl

Like Manning said they should make him fight another eliminator first. Unless, of course boxers will now be turning down eliminatiors to potentially be Wlad's mandatory like they turn down actual title shots.

Thompson gave Wlad tougher night than Haye did.

No real interest in this rematch. Sure, Thompson is a top 10 guy and on an ok run of beating some decent journeymen, but it would have been nice if someone would have replaced Chambers to make Thompson's second shot feel more deserving.

I'm curious as why Chambers isn't facing Thompson. Is his injury that bad or is he considering other options. I think a Vitali-Chambers fight is an interesting fight and would be good if Chambers was looking in that direction since Vitali is the only other fight that can pay him what Wlad wuold have. Chambers is one of the very few heavyweights who I think have a decent shot at upsetting Vitali.

Someone from Eddie's gym said his back really was bad. It was causing severe mobility issues along with the usual discomfort. Eddie also has a shoulder issue.
