Tony Thompson KOs David Price inside 2 rounds

Deffo he was getting KTFO by TT sooner or later we saw that after a round , what surprised me was how everyone is so stunned that a 16 fight novice gets parked up by a veteran .

 

The comparisons with Khan are almost natural to make.

I think what Spider says is very much spot on, that bad habits can creep in when fighting lower level opposition cause you can get away with those mistakes.

A rematch with Thompson may be something to consider, but not immediately imo.

 

Yep these old guys are just as you said " seasoned over hundreds of rounds of professional boxing " Price wasn't moved on gradually he went from bowling over overmatched guys to Thompson and that in itself is a recipe for disaster , the difference between him and Fury is Fury knows what it's like to get rocked and how to respond but and older guy like Cunningham could be his undoing IMO the only saving grace for Fury will be the massive difference in size should be enough to buy him time when he gets rocked , that luxury wasn't afforded to Pricey and it showed , great stoppage by the ref IMO because in that situation the majority of refs would gave let him continue and the next punch (probably a straight left )would have completely cleaned Dai's clock IMO .

 

I always think of these fights as being like driving lessons. You don't go haring round on your lessons as fast as you can. You practise all the manouvers , the emergency stop, not because its necessary then, but because it will be one day. All those kayos got Dave a following, but didn't give him an education. He's very upright which is OK because he's tall, but look back to the McDermott fight, John never missed him, he couldn't hurt him but he landed everything he threw. That was alarming to me, because although he dominated the fight could have gone awry. He's going to be hard to match, anyone capable of extending him could beat him. So I expect he will get blowouts and again be blown out.

Exactly. I haven't totally given up on Price just yet after being ko'd. I still think he is the main threat to the Klitschko's out of the poor current heavyweight division. Lets see how he bounces back from this setback.

 

I will still enjoy watching him fight but I will be surprised if he fights anyone that knows how to throw a punch let alone a serious fella like Wlad .

 

The best thing he can do now is rematch Tony Thompson and knock him the **** out.

at least alex was close to ko'ing him earlier in their fight. AND showed HUGE heart.
