What's "special" to you, near or at ATG :blood And if Pulev is nothing special, what is TT? A bum :-( Both are top HWs :bart
Close fight, you have to give Tony a good chance after back to back stoppages on Price but my head says Pulev will come through on points.
You forgot to add that Pulev may have the best footwork of any big HWs. His movements are subtle, but he alwasy seems to get himself in just the right space to land while at the same time avoided the big punches. Not saying he's a Mike Tyson bobnweaver, but he does get his opponents right at the end of his jab and he rarely takes a clean powershot. His style does tend to leave him open to the opponents jab though, but at 42 and already a bit slowish, does the Tiger still have the kindof jab to compete with Pulev. I'd like to add that Thompson has always been very relaxed in his big fightes, something not seen in this current crop, but that could be a bad thing for him if he underestimates Pulevs telephone pole jab.:think
Pulev lost ALL 3 of his fights to Southpaw Camarelle at amateur level. Thompson has a VERY real chance in this fight. He has won all 10 of his last (non Klitschko fights) by KO and Pulev was very close to being put down by Travis Walker until the bell saved him. Pulev has only fought b level fighters so far, so this is his first test. Thompson by KO or Pulev by PTS. One thing we can be sure of is that if Price couldn't stop Thompson in 2 fights and Klitschko took 11 rounds, then feather fist Pulev won't be stopping The Tiger :good
if pulev beats thompson then he has my respect and he is the man. i think with his awkward style he is the best guy i think out of all the prospects that could beat wlad, this is my opinion
Well, I would stand by it more firmly were it a few years ago - but honestly yeah even now I think Cammarelle could do it. That would rain on Lomachenko's parade. Thompson would be a debut to make people forget Oquendo. :yep
i wouldnt pick cammarelle myself but i wont argue with your logic as i respect your view on the game...i personally think anyone who stays in the amatuer game that long without having a go at the pros doubt how well they do..just my opinion tho..lol..maybe he had a gd reason not to youd prob know more about it than me..
Professionally, once, a month after his debut. Turkish anchovy can Serdar Uysal. Pulev stopped him in four. (Isossa Mondo and Florian Benche have no stance listed on Boxrec, as every other Pulev opponent does, yet are both clearly orthodox if you look up still images or Youtube footage of them)
In his case he did, actually. :good He was a longtime policeman in his native Italy and served with pride. His sense of civic duty is also what kept him boxing in the amateurs for so long despite having a demanding full-time job. The situation is different from a Zou Shiming, who honestly never had the style to make a successful transition into the pros and become a p4p elite and basically just hung around to get the last medal gifted to him and is now cashing out for as long as Top Rank is able to carry him. (which might be a paper title, although flyweight is becoming deep)
I wouldn NOT be surprised if Thompson pulls off the upset, but I have to believe Pulev will fight smarter than Price did . . .
