This cat hasn't lost for a long time and beat some good names. What does he have to do to secure a title shot? Any chance he could fight Sultan Ibragimov? He did defeat his brother.

Tony really didn't look that impressive stopping Krasniqi either, Luan just didn't do anything after the third round

i reaaaaaally hope thompson doesnt fight ibragimov because that would be a disastrously boring fight they are both safety first southpaws......

persoanlly i am surprised a lot of people have thompson in there top 10`s.

i simply do not see the talent in the man.

i do not have him in mine.

    thompson plus points

he is a big man 6.6/ long and loose/good workrate/lets his hands go inside/seems to have a good chin/good stamina for his age/southpaw.

    minus points

arm puncher only/double arm guard is weak and full of holes/drops right hand when at a distance making vunerable to a good jab/right jab is slow/soft/delivered with a bent arm with nothing on it/cannot box effectivley from range/goes back on rails with chin up in the air/pushes virtually every punch from distance and is slow with them, leaving himself very vunerable to counters/needs to get up close to be effective and has not the skill set to do this v a decent boxer/

all in all IMO his minus points outweigh his plus points at top 10 level which is why i cannot see it with him , and dont beleive he will improve at his age either.

    he is what he is

a big man/honest trier , but only has the abilty to get to a certain level with his style and that will not be beating top 10 fighters IMO.

He's already won a mandatory, if I'm not mistaken. He's probably going to be Wlad's next fight.

Wlad's going to get a highlight reel KO over him if it happens.

Thompson is solid yet unspectacular. he's almost a poor man's version of wlad without the skillset.

i would prefer he and povetkin fight to determine wlad's mando but wlad really has no other quality opponents he can face. id rather him stay active and fight more than just sit around and pose for german fitness magazines in fur coats and sting vests :yep

Both Povetkin and Thompson are solid top 10 guys though. So wlad might as well fight one of them. Id prefer povetkin cause he's better and it would make for a tv-friendly fight. im sure hbo would buy that fight but have my doubts about wlad-thompson

Wlad vs. Thompson is going to happen in July/August at the latest. Bet on it. Povetkin vs. Wlad possibly fighting at years end. But if Valuev beats Chagaev it's more likely that Povetkin won't fight for a title before 2009.

u reallly think king would let valuev fight wlad with his wba at stake? :think i have my doubts. he wants options which wlad will not give. maybe if chagaev wins, we could see it but im sure he'll look to fight joe mesi instead. i really doubt we see further unification anytime soon. as long as wlad fights thompson and povetkin this year, that's about the best we could expect. povetkin would be a much better win imo and action fight. is klit targeting thompson first? why?

B/C Povetkin isn't ready till July/August - he will just then be back in training and a fight Wlad vs. Thompson is already talked about in German media. Of course King wants to match Valuev (if he beats Chagaev) with Peter (who must beat Maskaev) but Vitali still has something t say/deliver against that. The best that could happen with a chance that King gets in some money is the following:

    Valuev W Chagaev
    Wlad W Thompson
    Peter W Maskaev
    ------------------
Then a big PPV headlined by:

    Wlad vs. Valuev
    Vitali vs. Peter
    ---------------
conclusion: Both brothers are champs at the same time and Vitali retires immediately (as stipulated by King and Don is allowed the either install Valuev or Peter as the challenger for the vacant belt vs. Virchis/Gomez).
    OR
At least one of King's fighters win and fight for all the marbles...

Either way, Don makes a hell lot of money...
