also if his been taken this medication for a decade a apparently and its never been an issue with the drug testing authorities in the USA its really making me worry about the testing

 

Well now you are assuming that all of us fans should have a chemistry and overall science knowledge to debate with which, lets face it, very few at most do.

I honestly kind of do since very few athletes who "test positive" do so for a particular steroid or "ubermensch"-making substance. It's for levels of hormones/white blood cells/etc. in the body.

And, by the way, why then didn't Thompson provide a shred of any argument to the UKDA? Surely if he were prescribed this and had been for some time he would have provided his records. You'd have to be one naive cat to be inclined to defend him after reading the article. The article which Thompson admitted is wholly true.

 

Different hypertension drugs have different effects. For example, a beta blocker would screw up athletic performance. I don't really believe he had high blood pressure considering he's a pro athlete, but he's basically a middle aged black guy with some extra fat so he looks the part.

 

there is plenty of other ones too with milder effects.

the fact is he never disclosed it, that makes him completely responsible no excuses

and how come this has never been an issue in 10 years of testing in the states? this is shocking

 

Um, he did appeal it.

He didn't give them a doctor's note because he probably doesn't give a fuck, being that it now is over and done with and long since ancient history. Thompson is probably wondering to himself why the Brits are looking to nickel-and-dime him on something this dumb. Just red tape. You don't know anybody that's ever let a chintzy parking ticket sit in their mail basket for months instead of just paying it outright?

 

Because USA testing in boxing is up to the commission. And they only require pre-scheduled urine tests. If they do any at all.

And to think the vast majority on this forum supported the local commissions testing in the USA and thought additional testing was unwarranted up until about 2 years ago is an absolute joke.

As for Thompson it doesn't take much to see that he was never taking the medication. Otherwise he would have provided his case to the UKDA. He appealed, alright! Then let the appeal time wane away without providing a single shred of a document or even a statement.

 

No, I'm claiming if we're going to chirp on every "banned substance" positive in the sport, we should be educated at bare minimum enough to know the difference between a true PED and the much broader category of "banned substances" (a few of which, like weed, don't even constitute, in any sense of the word, cheating)

It has a legitimate prescribed use outside just some athletes disguising their PED mischief, you realize that, yes?

your a pro athlete you have to disclose all medication your on everything. Heck even if you get a gym membership you have to disclose what medication your on. his a pro athlete getting drug tested and doesn't think of disclosing that?
