Tony Thompson's Response To "Failed Drug Test"

For all we know tyrannasaurus rex's were killed off by a direct line of evolutionary ancestors that dates up to Benito Mussolini.

 

Isn't it just a little concerning that this is coming out 2 years later?
If this was really considered to be a serious PED related drug offense, why didn't it come out right after the fight? Like every other positive drug test?

The fact it is coming out 2 years later is indicative of a separate agenda.
Someone is trying to figure out how to make David Price still a marketable commodity. "Yes, he has 3 losses but, 2 were due to a PED cheat. This was just his first REAL loss. Come spend your money on him."

 

That would be a good point if Thompson didn't admit the process detailed in the article was correct.

So that post goes out the window.

 

He could have but if the lab can't get 'through' the masking agent then it's kind of innocent until proven guilty.

Because the masking agent IS a banned substance.

If you are already blatantly or ignorantly breaking the rules and using a banned substance, especially one which has been known to mask other uses, why would you deserve that extra special benefit of doubt?

 

Rather then have this lost in the shuffle of the various posts on Thompson being a "drug cheat" I figured I'd post this on its own and see what people's response were. This may not change your mind at all but regardless, here's Thompson's statement as reported in Boxing Scene.

 

Has he ever been in trouble with any other doping agency?
I realize athletes may take legitimate medicine/prescriptions which may have banned substances so it's kind of their call I guess before they take them.

I don't think Tony is too concerned with his ban in UK, he's almost retired.

 

odd this comes up after Price was savagely KOed again. Remember the Brits drug tested him after the 1st Price fight when it wasn't in the contract or anything and Thompson obliged and even told them they won't find anything but fried chicken and donuts :rofl

Well that second last paragraph does change things...a lot.

 

I'm not - I just believe in benefit of the doubt. Especially in a case where you have a 43 year old African American (being black and in his age bracket puts him at extremely high risk of hypertension) using a medication for high blood pressure.

If he used this stuff for years and balked at the idea of some nerdy bureaucrat in the UK happening to add its contents to a local banned substances list and didn't take it seriously enough to comply with their probing for documentation, well, yes, that makes him dumb and prideful but leaping to conclusions that he automatically is a cheater seems a stretch.

...as does the mentality that all top level boxers must automatically be dirty, to a man, without exception and without indisputable proof required.

 

its an illegal substance in America too, his been getting away with it over there for years, that's very worrying. the fact he didn't think he had to disclose and the fact his been passing drug tests in America for years on this substance is even more worrying

 

So not obly did Price get KOd by an overweight 41 year old...he got KOd by an overweight 41 year old with high blood pressure.
