Tubbs wasn't always chinny, i'm sure his chin of '92 onwards had declined along with his body.

Tubbs was like Norton in the chin dept......... Both could take swats from good boxers with moderate power, yet both also would get parked by punchers looking to KO somebody..... Again, neither Tubbs or Norton stood up well under powerful forces....

But how many could stand up to Tyson, Foreman, and Shavers :D

    Hopefully Tubbs doesn't get hurt...

What i meant was, in '85 Tubbs beat Bonecrusher, & in '91 Tubbs took Bowe the distance. Yet in '92 he's sparked in one by Butler, & '93 the same thing happens in round one against '90s Ellis. There is a gulf in class between punchers Bowe & Bonecrusher... compared to Butler & '90s Ellis.

Indeed, Tyson stopped Tubbs in two in '88, but Tubbs traded well with Mike in the first round, & it took some crippling bodyshots, soon followed a perfectly timed lefthook nuke to end him in the 2nd. Such a KO loss to Tyson does not indicate a bad chin, as ridiculous "Chincheckers" may claim.

Foreman said that Ellis hit him the hardest ever.

He could fight Holyfield for the Legends of Boxing HW Championship that Holmes had when he KO'ed Weaver in the re-match

While I hope he doesn't compete again, his intention to try could be a good thing, if it results in him getting himself into decent physical shape. Too many boxers let themselves entirely go, then die premature deaths due to weight related and other health issues. There's not necessarily a correlation between fitness and health, but he always had a rather flabby physique. He should aim to get his weight under 220 if at all possible, at least below 225 before he even contemplates facing live opposition.

What Blubbs, er, Tubbs should do is, become a trainer and train some prospects as well some solid pro's.... Create a stable.... As long as Tubbs keeps sober and focused, he could operate a gym and acquire a group of fighters looking for a name trainer... But Tubbs will need to be serious about this....
    :think
I mean, what other skills does Tubbs have? And here in 2011 and being age 53, options aren't all over the place... Tubbs ain't gonna wanna work the graveyard shift at Burger King flipping Whopper paddies..... Ya-Naw-Im-Saying?

Hell, Ol' Tubbs has fathered 16 ******* kids......:patsch:roll::nut

Having more than 4 kids and its time for the state or system to step into the show and evaluate whether the man and woman involved can afford more kids........ We, the people, gotta step in and do something...... Tubbs has already been sued and chased by lawyers for child support that he can't afford........:bbb

I agree. A lot of former champs/contenders should do this. I don't understand why they don't pass on their vast knowledge of boxing to younger generations and make a buck for themselves in the process..

I sense very few ex-fighters wanna spend much time in the gym and in camp constantly trying to hold the fort down and maintaining things with a group of fighters....

Ray Leonard canned Angelo Dundee because Dundee charged enormous fee's to be the head trainer, and yet, Dundee would only show up in camp a week to 10 days before the big fight night to make last minute adjustments... Leonard thought Dundee, like many other trainers, were being paid too much for too little work....

Dude's like Janks Morton and Dave Jacobs were the guys who actually watched over SRL in camp while waiting on Angelo Dundee to come in prior to the fight....

Same thing with Bones Smith back in 1989 when he was KTFO by Ruddock.... Joe Frazier worked Smith's corner, but Frazier didn't do jack**** in seriously training Smith for that fight.... Frazier popped up just a couple of days before the fight happened.... I'm curious what Frazier got paid for that little gig he had with Smith.?.?

That's the way Foreman did it !

But he was a sprightly 38, and no crack cocaine history.

I felt the same way watching Haye Klitschko. Made it a point to be home to see the fight live and it was once again supremely disappointed. People should appreciate fighters like Bowe more thats for sure.

It's all nonsense. It wsn't that long ago that Razor Ruddock claimed the same thing.A big comeback-until he got into the gym and rank amatuers were beating the **** out of him. It's all a pipe dream.
