I guess I pretty much watched these TNT's from start to end but I think Tubbs would out box Tucker and win a decision.

I stumbled across my Tony Tubbs fight against Eddie Gonzalez from 1987... Tubbs came in at a lean 225 pounds.... Tubbs toyed with the slobbish Gonzalez before putting him away early...

The fight was at The Celebrity Theatre in Anaheim, Ca.... I lived just a few miles south in Fountain Valley.. The place only holds about 2,500 seats... I've been inside 2 or 3 X....

Too bad that was one of the few times he was that light. I really liked Tubbs skills, Unfortuanetly he was often over 235 lbs. If he had stayed in the time of shape he was in when he beat Page, he could have defended his title longer. He still wouldn't have beaten Tyson, but could have outboxed Tucker.

At their best, Tubbs too crafty. He was a talented dude, just let himself down a bit too much.

If Tubbs turns up tubby, Tucker punches him into a shell and Tubbs just looks to do the rounds (and would).

I guess we could say his reproductive organs worked better and harder than he ever did in the ring.

I've got a copy of Bowe-Thomas, like you said Thomas was just a punching bag in there. Completely so, how it was allowed to go 8 rounds with some of them being arguable 10-8s en route was pretty bad.

At least Thomas had the sense to, against Morrison, realise he was getting pounded again and called it a day after just one round. Some of that sense from his corner vs Bowe would've been better for his health.

I'm a fan of both, but Tubbs did more in his career than Tucker did when both were decent fighters, So I think that after some fairly even rounds early on, Tubbs does enough late to win a close fifteen rounder.

Still would pick Tubbs, but it might be a closer fight than imagined.
