Here's the video of the fight that lasted merely 2 sec. Tubbs was KO'd by the first punch:

Do you think it was fixed or real KO?

Tony Tubbs was still good at that time, having beaten Bruce Seldon, Jesse Ferguson and Alexander Zolkin, all of whom were much better than Jimmy Ellis.

Jimmy Ellis, a clubfighter without any decent win on his record, was KO'd by Foreman and Tony Wills, and outpointed by 1-9-1 Brewer right before the Tubbs fight.

I don't know if it was fixed or not.. Frankly I don't see any profitable reason for Tubbs to throw that fight, and given that Ellis showed no trajectory of a man who was going anywhere, there doesn't seem to be much motive for a fix. I saw Tubbs KO'd in one round fairly close to that same time frame by Lionel Butler who caught him legitimately and no apparent signs of a fix were evident. I think it comes down to Tony never really having the greatest chin and occasionally getting careless.. That and he was also past his prime for the Butler and Ellis fights....

SIDENOTE: - I saw Tubbs' fight with Alexander Zolkin live on TV back in the day.. Zolkin was robbed in that match to the extent where viewers called in to the network with their displeasure over the decision.

I don't know.. If you turn up the volume, you can actually hear that shot land.. Ellis was a very hard puncher and it certainly wasn't the first time Tubbs had been knocked out with a hard left hook.

First question is who would benefit from a fix here? It was a nothing fight between a washed up Tubbs and Ellis, a fringe journeyman going nowhere.

Yes. Put your money on jorneyman beating former world title beltholder by KO in 1 and you definitely win some bucks.

A very hard left hook landed flush. Tubbs dropped hard like a sack of potatoes.

No way to know for sure. The left hook did land solidly in the temple region.

I don't know anything about this particular fight.
I will say that a lot more fights are fixed than we realize.

Getting hit hard in the temple will f*ck you up.

That said, one can't really tell from the footage how hard Tubbs is trying to rise from the canvas.
