Tubbs was a magical specimen, a skilled Adonis who bestrode a world not prepared to appreciate him, a preternaturally quick grasshopper occupying a behemoth's carriage with the skills of an eyelidless monk.

    Tubbs 15UD.

Prose so beautiful and sweet it is like an orgasm of the keyboard and Pulitzer worthy. Almost as smooth and gracefully written as watching Tubbs move from counter to counter at an all you can eat buffett without spilling a crumb. KUDOS

Honestly, Tubbs could've beaten Holmes in 1985 had he been in somewhat decent shape. He wins a ud here.

Based on their performances against common opponents, and the fact that Tubbs never beat anyone as good as Holmes in his career, I'd take Larry by late stoppage (10th or 11th round). Or I could see Holmes starting fast and stopping Tubbs early (like Holmes did against Marvis Frazier). Tubbs was stopped early several times in his career. And Holmes had nearly as many KOs as Tubbs had wins.

I don't like matchups that aren't prime, I kinda don't see the point, but that's just my thing, however I kinda liked Tubbs he was a helluva talent within his style. You can't guess a fight involving this guy as you have no idea of his mindset from one fight to another. At his best ( hard to say when that was) he certainly goes the distance. He was durable alright but then pick the wrong night and it's a blowout.
The Tubbs that fought Bowe or his unbeaten self would be a good matchup.

    Tubbs was an astropode
    Who never gave up hope
He fought until he was 50
    To pay for his kids
    And his dope

    He had some skills
    His hands were so fast
But with a spare tyre like that
    The speed couldn't last

    He was a Roly poly
    But I was fan
    He had plenty of suet
    And plenty of jam

    How he did it
    I will never know
    As a fat old timer
    I reckon he decisioned Bowe

    He bought his parents house
It had a disco in the basement
    But Tony's best fight days
    Were left in encasement

    He'd blow all his money
    He'd throw it away
He made the mistake of thinking
    There was always another big
    Payday

    There was never a fighter
    With a name so apt
    Tony Tubbs
    Both talented and fat.

Close fight at this time. In the peak years they could've met I think Holmes stops him late or wins a decision.

If Tubbs arrived in good shape he'd have a reasonable chance against an aged Holmes. He was another terribly lazy 80's heavyweight - beats Greg Page at a reasonable 229 pounds then defends against Witherspoon next fight at a stupendous 244 pounds. Insanity.

    Tubbs on workrate.
He was fat but he fought a steady pace.

Holmes fought in bursts at that point of his career.
" Spasms" as a british commentator used to call it. You can outpoint those guys by punching when they're resting and spoiling when they want to "burst".
