The Grizzly Bear against the Tall T.

Prime for prime, can Tucker box his way to a win ,or does Jeff corner him and abruptly end his night?

Prime, drug-free Tucker outboxes him in a safety-first style en route to a wide UD.

I agree. I think Tucker has the speed and size to make it difficult for Jeffries.

    First define Jeffries.

Based on what I know I would pick Jeffries, but I admit that this involves a number of assumptions.

Tucker is tough to evaluate. He fought absolutely no one for his first 33 fights. Even post Tyson, he fought many journeymen, so you have to look at how he did vs the best.

I did notice he lost to the best punchers he fought in Tyson, Lewis and Hide.

Buster Douglas had the fight won until Tucker caught him late in the 10th.

He barely defeated a much smaller Norris and not very skilled or focuses Oliver McCall in split decision fights. On skills and size, Tucker should have easily won both fights. But he struggled. You have to ask why.

Getting Kod by Seldon and Ruiz, even in older age makes you wonder a big as neither was a big puncher.

Tucker was a fighter with good size and ability, but he underachieved a bit and lacked heart in some of his toughest fights.

Jeffries would stop him. I don't think Tucker could take his punches over the course of the match, and Jeffries would not just hang around there like Norris and McCall did in many rounds vs him.

Tucker fought Eddie Lopez in his 24th fight and Jimmy Young in his 25th. The score cards at the time of the stoppage were
    86-85,86-86,85-86,so it was level.

Jimmy Young had lost FOUR fights in a row, and was 35 year old

Eddie Lopez was pretty much journeyman. Tucker was his last fight.

Historians and writers of the times, and the fighters. Some say he hit harder than Dempsey, and he floored every man he meet save his 1910 come back fight.

Are we in the classic section? The heavier fighters Jeffries meet 195-215 lasted fewer rounds.

In addition, power is tied to class. Jeffries has very little fat on his resume compared to many others.

Had Jim Jeffries, the boxer, come along in the 1980's or 90's we would only know the comedian today.

Yeah, but he only had 23 fights. How many different styles was he actually exposed to? Also, I don't think he decked Bob Armstrong. From what I read, Armstrong seemed to be that kind of journeyman who would give the top men a hard time while going the distance. Sort of like a S****iron Johnson type of fighter. Armstrong - it was said - made him look like an amateur. Of course, it was also written that Jeffries injured his hand or wrist in the fight and s****ed home to a decision. So without the punch to fall back on he didn't have a lot of tools to ply his trade. I would feel very comfortable picking Tucker on a decision in a proposed fight.

It's good to see the majority of people post boxing here. Jeffries total fights are unknown. Articles say he whipped 20 men prior to Fitzsimmons, but the total amount of fights really isn't the best way to judge a fighter, the quality of opposition and how he beat them is.

Who is Tucker's best win? Buster Douglas gets my vote. Douglas was comfortably in the lead but got caught lately. His other best wins are split decision vs Norris and McCall.

As stated the best power punchers and aggressive fighters beat Tucker who l think at times lacked fire.

I researched Jeffries Vs. Armstrong and he did floor him. I posted the report a while back when a certain someone was asking for proof.

Jeffries who did not wear hand wraps most of the time broke his thumb early in the match and had another 10 round match scheduled on the same day. It was a promotion two fight in one day sort of thing. The circumstances of two fights in the same day and the injury had something to do with the performance I think.

I'm aware of their records but neither were nobodies as you claimed here.

"He fought absolutely no one for his first 33 fights".

So you've been corrected on that and also on the scores of the Douglas fight which were absolutely level.

So that's two statements by you , both proven to be wrong
    Par for the course really!:good

The underlined is incorrect, the scores were level at the time of the stoppage.
How do you get caught lately?:huh

Tucker stopped Douglas at 1.36 ,practically the middle of the round.
Do you actually ever do any research or do you just say whatever comes into your head?
