I also want to add Tucker had a series of unfortionate issues in his career some his fault, some not. 1) moved slooooooowly. Prior to the Douglas fight the only guy he fought that was decent was James Broad, the other 30ish guys were basically non-entities. I forget if his dad was managing him or what was going on. He also spent years not fighting another top ten heavyweight after Tyson 2) he had a bad knee injury that shelved him for over a year I think (banged his knee against another guys knee) 3) fought Tyson with a messed up hand 4) Drugs (after Tyson if I'm remembering)
Lewis was about the same weight as Tucker in 93 he put on a lot of weight in the following years and improved vastly under the watchful eye of Steward.
AJ`s too slow at that weight, his best fighting weights were v Ruiz in the rematch and against Parker between 237 and 242 lbs, he`s lost a lot of weight coming into this fight v Usyk for that reason.
Joshua is not 40-50 pounds heavier than prime Tucker are you serious ? Tucker showed up against Douglas and Tyson in the low 220s, it's a big size difference but Aj's best weight is the low 240s to arguably the high 230s. Thats a 20 pound difference and Aj isn't a Foreman that just bullies smaller guys anyway
Spinks and Foreman denied him title shots when he was mandatory. Had he won those, he'd be two time lineal.
I'd favor him over Spinks, Foreman in 95/96 I'm not too sure. Tucker was almost done at that point though he did put in a good effort against Seldon before his eye swelled shut. I would probably favor him over George but it would be close and who knows what the judges would do. But yea good point, another couple notches on the bad luck of his career
Why the hell was he a mandatory when Foeman was champ? He hadn`t beaten any top 10 contenders in the 90`s and got blown away in 2 rounds by Hide, he was completely shot by 94.
Don King. Foreman dropped this gem if there’s any doubt about the duck: "They tried to force me to fight Tony Tucker. And I remember looking at Tony Tucker, and saying, 'Mama didn't raise no fools. I'm not fighting him.' And they took the titles. Some people I'm not gonna fight. That's the good reason. I didn't want to fight him. Too tough." —George Foreman, on his refusal to fight Tucker.[13]
Foreman was pretty calculating with his opponents in career number 2, the exceptions being when he wanted a world title. Even then, Holyfield (former cruiser) Moorer (former LH).
