When you have posters that don’t understand how a 5”10 man can beat bigger men regularly then I’d say yes.
There was a brief window where your fantasy actually came true. By empirical evidence that window closed long ago and will never re-open.
I guess Frazier and Tyson never happened. How did they compete with all those giants? Oh they weren’t “Italian” right?
Marciano was well schooled as well with one of the best corners ever. They all had their faults. Tyson and Frazier are not perfect fighters...don’t be a simp.
IMO, he loses to Ali, Foreman and Vitali. Probably loses to Wlad too. Liston, Holmes, Tyson and Frazier are pick'ems. He beats all the guys you said he would, except for Frazier He also beats Holy, Douglas and Big Daddy. A lot of folks on here severely overrate Marciano. But a fair few underrate him as well. Regardless of the strength of the era, you have to defeat formidable odds (as well as fighters) to go undefeated.
No, Marciano started very late and was, by his own trainer's admission, horrible. He was never well-schooled. And yes, Tyson and Frazier had their faults but they were just a lot better.
Most people don’t rate Frazier or Tyson above Marciano (I don’t). Although to me it’s not an insult to have either higher. Splitting hairs between talent and accomplishment.
Imagine dying while a record that's still intact 50 years later, and being heavyweight champion of the world despite your size and lesser skill only to be the subject of a bunch of arguments over the internet
Empirical evidence shows that Marciano was never a reigning HW champion? Ah man, I must’ve missed that dramatic development. Shucks.
"By empirical evidence that window will never re-open ..." Let me translate for the illiterate proles. The window was open for a guy like Marciano. It has since closed and no one remotely like him has found his way to the top again.
