These people are really pathetic and embarrassing right now. Just sit back and let them meltdown. If only they could see how they are looking right now. They reek of desperation. They wanted so bad to believe the tweets. They wanted to see Ward's head on a pike so much but instead it's Kovalev's.

 

Yeah and I think that actually probably was the reasoning that changed his mind. (that both guys were throwing) However again that really shouldn't have anything to do with it. I mean Flores wasn't really throwing much of a punch, it was more of a reaction to Rigondeaux "letting go" of his hold on the back of his head. The fact that they both were punching doesn't make it any less "after the bell". The fact is that a punch was landed after the bell, whether they both were throwing doesn't change that a landed punch occurred after the bell. (it appeared the punch not only landed after the bell but was thrown after the bell and certainly after the ref got in there and told them to stop punching) I thought Flores should have been allowed to continue and given 5 minutes in a situation like that. And if he was too injured, then have the no contest. Either that or the ref could have DQ'd Rigo for EITHER hitting after the bell OR for holding the back of Flores head and punching him repeatedly that set up the knockdown after the bell.

I mean it was a wild situation, but there's no excuse for giving Rigo that victory when you know it was after the bell and you know he was committing a foul in the punches that lead up to that punch after the bell.

 

Despite the controversy....can we all agree we just saw the 2 best light heavies in the world face off in a very good and certainly well matched 50 - 50 contest?

Kov started strong as expected but Ward weathered Kov as the fight went on. Yes there were low blows but this is professional boxing, it is to be expected.

The 2nd half of the fight was going Wards way. Despite the controversy and unsatisfying ending, I'm sure most would agree it was a matter of an inevitable Ward victory, whether you like to admit it or not.

 

I can't argue with this exept by degree. Excellent post and I leave it to more educated boxing heads than I to work out the minutiae. And besides, I'm half assed drunk and digging what for me is a Super Bowl victory. SOG!!! SOG!!!

 

And you still have people attempting to state these blows weren't low, it ****ing baffles my brain how these people even survive in the real world.

Kovalev got mauled man. You guys are nuts with the borderline low punches. The last punch was when kov was all scrunched over after having the crap beaten out of him. The fight goes on kov could end up in the hospital. Huge upset.
