There are rare exceptions where fighters are able to develop compensatory skills and tactics to compensate for a shaky mandible and achieve great success in boxing.

Lennox Lewis is another. Interestingly they were both trained by Emmanuel Steward.

Yes he hollowed out quickly. It’s shocking he won a gold medal.

He needs to change his trainer, fight a couple of confidence booster bouts, and he is back in the mix.

As an amateur he was average for some time, then improved enough to become Amateur World Champion and Olympic Champion. Now he will have to make the same way in the Pros, just dont expect the same kind of sucess.

Stewart, Andy Lee, Mcguigan, would be adequate trainers for him.

I knew his career would amount to bunk when he struggled with that journeyman David Allen. After that they had to wheel in the corpses of Dimitrenko and Duhaupas to keep him from getting exposed.

Joyce deserved the gold in the first place.

According to a French newspaper he trains with Don Charles and waits for Canal + to give him a date.

I thought he looked alright to begin with, but I had the feeling he'd unravel at some point. He just seemed to coast by on his athleticism and decent power but showed very little ring IQ and seemed very raggedy when he wasn't able to totally dictate the pace and range of the fight. Chin-wise he always looked kind of willowy and fragile, and he didn't seem to make any improvements fight on fight. Strong echoes of Khan. A million franc body, a quatre cent brain.
