Yeah he was an impressive puncher on film. His win over Georgie Abrams was a great win too. I question his resume big time, but not his talent
I loved a quote of Zale's ,he was asked about," glass jaws",he replied," I haven't seen many ,but I have come across a few glass hearts." Zale against Cerdan is the classic example of a warrior going out on his shield, he was completely out on his feet before he was stopped.I don't think Graziano would have been competitive with a prime ,pre -war Zale.
Agree...Zale became an old man that night. He tried and tried and fought his heart out but he just got old. I would take a prime Zale over the underrated Cerdan who fought a beautiful fight that night. A non stop 2 fisted attack. A bit squared up but he made it work. Zale rightfully retired.
I would take Burley to outbox him UD.. I like matching Zale against the guys that like to really bring it. Zale LaMotta was done here befor and I think I may have been the 2 or 3 guys that picked Zale. I still would but that's another thread lol
Zale would break down basilio in my view...batter him to the body and counter him to death with big left hooks to the head
So, how do people think a prime Zale would have done against the murderers row fighters and LaMotta, would he have been favoured over any of them?
Really? I'm surprised, I thought LaMotta was generally more highly regarded than Zale I must confess although I'm familiar with both I probably don't know enough to pick one over the other.
LaMotta is more highly regarded but I would take Zale if they had fought. I'm in the big minority here on that fight!
