This is the type of thread when the old timer gets picked because it somehow placates a knowledge base of the sport entirely predicated upon going out of one's way to glamorize and thus wildly overrate earstwhile fighters.
Gennady Golovkin- he who has yet to beat a top 10 MW, maybe 1 at best if you're generous... Is being compared to Tony ****ing Zale? I know styles make fights, hey you don't have to tell me that. But Zale is an ATG MW! Your argument would have to be based around modern day physique being wildly superior and nothing with the actual fighters if you are going to say Golovkin takes this one.
"Oh look at me, I got boxin' knowledge. I am picking the guy who fought decades ago." That's basically how it works....
"Oh look at me I'm picking the guy who hasn't beat a top 10 MW in one of the weakest eras in MW history over a HOF MW." That's basically what you're saying.
Just had to read up on Tony Zale first.. To start with, like all these fantasy match-ups between ATGs and current or recent fighters, we have absolutely no way of making a realistic head-to-head comparison. Such discussion is essentially meaningless. We might as well ask how would GGG fare against Rocky Balboa. That said, the Rocky Balboa character could almost have been based on Zale from the sound of it (yes, yes, I know he wasn't). Tough as boots, and able to bang, but there to be hit. Stylistically therefore it would have been an interesting match-up. GGG bringing pressure and tight skills, against Zale who seemed able to take almost limitless punishment and still fight back - (not withstanding his KO loss in Graziano 2). Both of course are known as punishing body punchers, so stamina and resilience would be a deciding factor. I'm thinking in modern terms, of a kinda Ouma or Froch who could maybe bang a bit better. This is a fight I'd like to see, in fact, Froch has mentioned GGG as a possible opponent, and while I don't think it's the right time for Gennady to be moving up, it has the makings of a truly epic clash.
Fukin inbred ****. This is widely considered one of the stronger middleweigts eras ever. **** your usa bias is so pathetic. Die you bigot.:hi: You are just stupid, fukin stupid.:deal
Tony Zale, the ancient WHITE american who had success in AMERICANS middleweight divisions. Doesnt tell the story of that guy and his quality. And this USA bigot Nonito smoak has nerves to call guy like Gennady Golovkin fighting in weak era. Man that is some irony right there.:rofl Golovkin would treat Zale boy like Simon Adebisi did to Peter Schibetta in Oz. Love the yanks getting on their high horse when their over rated heroes are brought in to discussion. I would bet in Nobuhiro Ishida to ko that bum with 18 losses. :hey:
