Come on now...you should know better than that..unless you just don't know much about Emile Griffith. Griffith was a welterweight...like Duran was a lightweight...but EG grew nicely into a middleweight...and beat for the crown a guy who was perhaps the strongest middleweight champ ever in Tiger...Griffith at times even outmuscled Tiger in that 1966 bout. Griffith was always a middle from the waist up btw and was immensely strong. No one wipes out Griffith, not even Hagler. Little Duran goes 15 rounds with and bamboozles and intimidates Hagler, and a better, more accomplished, just as clever and much stronger fighter like Griffith gets "wiped out"? C'mon, step out of the 80's and all that "Fab Four" crap and learn about a really excellent fighter like Emile Griffith...and while you're at it, educate yourself about the other great fighters in that great, "unknown" (to guys like you) decade called the "70's".

Can't remember when but Hurricane Carter wiped out Griffith in a Tyson/Spinks kind of way. In fact, that what I was thinking of when I said Hagler would wipe him out.

And I think Griffith was a hell of a fighter BTW

Carter caught him cold in the first round.

****in A man. All of a sudden Hagler is indestructible. Only against Hearns. Hagler was a boxer first with above average power who could be intimidated. These cats act like the Hag of Hearns fame is the only Hag. Really a put down to Marvin who boxerpunched beautifully. But would lose fights throughout middleweights history.

Man Hagler is severely underrated these days

In my mind he’s the best natural middleweight we have ever seen on film

That stoppage loss to Rubin Carter was a fluke...I truly believe it was. Griff was still a welter then. By 1966, he went up to middle and giving up 10 lbs to the strongest middleweight champion in Dlck Tiger...the man who spanked Rubin Carter just a year earlier, outboxed him, decked him and at times appeared to be the stronger man. That was the fighter who drove his trainer Gil Clancy crazy. When Emile Griffith felt like fighting, he was formidable. I wish Griffith and Carter rematched in '66 for the middleweight title. I believe that EG would have beaten him over 15 for revenge.

Marvin Hagler was better than Burley, Lamotta, and Williams whom zale never fought.

Graziano would have been a sparring partner at best for hagler

As he would have been also for Zale before the war, when he was at his best.

I'm not sure Hagler would get past those three without a loss. Burley and Williams at their finest would be very tough and LaMotta is no pushover.
