Too catch the punch with the chin

    Freddie roach also teaches the drill something that we were discouraged from doing in the ring. Is that an effective defense?

    He says it is a last resort defensive move if you are for some reason caught with your hands down. Jake Lamotta used to roll with the punches to take there power off of them. I think it is an effective defensive move granted the fighter has good reflexes and doesn't just stand there. Only the experienced fighter should attempt it. Use with caution.
