Why make a comment on something you obviously know nothing about except for watching 24/7. And besides the fact nearly everything you said is bull **** so what if they were all overweight there older and done their time being fit as long as theyve got the knowledge to get hatton in the best shape of his life who gives a **** what they look like. And if you actually listened to the 24/7 show part 2 youd have heard that after going to vegas there would be no more weights and that was his last weight session you saw.
Probably some gentle weeping at the Mayweather camp. :| Wah, my daddy doesn't like me, my hands hurt, mean old Ricky made fun of me and the fact that I am a defensive fighter:| :| :| , nobody respects me, Nobody loves me, wah, wah, wah:| . I'll just buy some tacky jewelry and pay people to make me feel adequate. Floyd is basically an emo kid, probably takes pictures of himself at bad angles, listens to music by people whos daddy didnt understand, and hangs out on myspace.
What does bodybuilding have to do with boxing?? All that weightlifting is going to be no help to Hatton. I hope Ricky has been doing serious roadwork (hills and distance), if he is going to be able to hand with Floyd. Ricky can't show up muscle bound, slow, abd robotic like he did against Collazo, or he will gas again and receive a merciless beating. All that glorification of FAT Northern English lifestyle is a joke and Hatton may pay dearly for it. Ricky needs to take conditioning lessons from a fellow Brit - Th Great Calzaghe!
All this is true. However, Floyd is in excellent BOXING shape and is being trained by BOXING men. Say what you want about Roger, he knows BOXING. He is a former world champion BOXER, not some second rate bodybuilder. Did you see all the road work and sparring Floyd is doing on 24 / 7. I hope Hatton prepared for a BOXING match or he is going to get pummeled in front of his drunk, fat adoring working class British fans.
What the **** is wrong with being working class? I'm working class and proud of it. Some ****ers got to do the work....
Boxer's should focus on excercises that complement boxing. Weights or otherwise. Hatton lifting heavy weights with his legs, like he did on 24 / 7, is not going to help him in a Boxing match. If you want to get past your Golden Gloves amateur status, you will learn this soon. I am a veteran ex pro!
Ricky Hatton is not and doesn't want to be a prima ballerina so he should work on strengthening the legs that are going to hold him together, that are going to wheel him into position and shove his opponent as he smothers him with timed hooks. Pulling up weights with legs, pushing against resistance forces ( like trainers and partners, even dead weights tied to his waist), running up steep inclines n on different resistant surfaces such as sand and grass can help him with this. The sparring, the technical adjustements and Game plan are all equally important but maybe can become the later stage of the preparation.
Have you ever thrown a punch? Where does the power come from? The legs you thick ****. Some guys lift, some don't, but all things being equal having stronger muscles is always, always, always, better than having weak ones. Hatton's style is helped greatly by lifting weights, as he is actually in there to fight, not play slap-tag and run. Nearly every elite level athlete in every other sport lifts weights, the fastest people in the world lift weights, the quickest people in the world lift weights, the most flexible people in the world usually lift weights or do some sort of resistance training.
Low weight high reps is exactly what bodybuilders do, athletes should not be doing this. The idea that high reps condition you is ******ed, it causes muscle growth (unwanted weight) without giving you any strength gains. The point of lifting weights as an athlete is to get stronger. You lift weights for strength and strength alone, you condition and box for conditioning and skillwork.
both forms of weightlifting should be used. ricky needs heavy weights to strngthen his legs because he is constantly pushing his chest against his opponents in order to work inside and you need strong legs to hold your opponent against the ropes. lighter weights and more reps like a medicine ball will condition your fast twitch muscles and help your reaction time. the trick is finding the right balance to maximize strength without losing speed.
Can you provide evidence to back up that delusional statement?, or is it just misinformed giberish born out of your hate for Floyd?..
