There was something special about barking out on memory to your old man a list of the current World Champions and you could do this act (with a little difficulty sometimes) all the way though to the mid 80s...

There is nothong holy about the traditional eight weight classes it is just that they ensure highly competitive and strong divisions.

Imagine if there had never been a supermiddleweight division and if every fighter between 160 and 175 lbs had to contest a single belt.

Imagine some of the match ups we would have had.

so hatton is a mouse. good for you.
so is pac i guess.

Hatton would have been one of the loosers under the system that I am suggesting. He would never have been a champion just a verry good contender. I can live with that.

Pac would still have been a multi division champion and so would Hopkins.

So some champions would be relagated to the status of contenders but those who wern't would become legends.
