    What's up ESB,
Today I used my Rival RB2 14oz super bag gloves for the first time, and noticed there was much more padding than the cheap Everlast 12oz's I was previously using. I felt much less impact on my hands and experienced little to no pain, and wondered if I was getting as good a workout. For some reason, it just felt I was cheating by not engaging all the muscles in my hands, and want to know if there is any logic in my reasoning. This question has been bugging me the whole night so if someone can shed some light for me I would be very appreciative.

ofcourse your getting a good workout. Technically if you think about it the workout should be slightly better as the gloves are heavier. Your hands are your tools if you like in this sport protect them as much as possible. You dont need to "work" the muscles in your hands as such but you do need to protect the many fragile bones and tendons ect. Somone with a better knowledge of anatomy than me would tell you the details.

You wanted to get more protection and sounds like you have it :good reckon im gunna get a pair of those rivals too mate.

On a more serious note - 1. What "muscles" are you looking to engage in your hand?! 2. Why are you complaining that your hands don't hurt?! :huh

If you aren't feeling the impact, I can think of two (probably concurrent) reasons. First, heavier gloves slowed your hand speed, in which case, punch harder and faster. Second, those Rival gloves are doing a good job of protecting your hands, in which case, I should consider getting a pair.
