Only recently started sparring and over the weekend I took a right hook to the kidney area, It didn't put me down but I did get the delayed pain reaction a bit like when you get kicked in the balls.
Since then I've been quite uncomfortable especially in bed getting in and out of, bending down and getting in the bath is sore too, I've been taking pain killers for it but there hasn't been a huge improvement, I googled it but all I pretty much got was if you didn't **** blood your ok??

It also hurts in that area when I cough and sneeze.
Am I just being a ***** about this? Does getting hit in that area normally hurt like this for awhile? How long should I give it before I visit the doctors?

Give it at least a week, cold compression and a hot water bottle should help...

Sounds like you got caught sharp, credit you didn't go down, the more you take the easier it gets tbh mate

Blood is always the warning sign, or if you find yourself with prolonged pain in the side/back area with any swelling get it checked out straight away.

Well, you're doing the right thing by not seeking medical advice, and looking for the helpful and practical advice from unqualified strangers on an internet forum.
    Seriously, go see a doctor.
It might just be a bruised rib, and for that - there's nothing to do but rest it and don't train for a couple of weeks. Even cardio and any exercises involving arms/abs might be painful. The pain is an indication to leave it alone.
And if it's something more serious, you don't want to delay treatment.

Good idea. :patsch You diagnosed this issue as nothing serious that can be left for a week over the Interwebz? Nice.

Asking for medical advice on a boxing forum is always a bad idea.

I disagree. The knowledgeable poster baser here never fails to give good advice.

    Now its time for my advice;

OP, pray to St. Christopher and massage the area with oakmoss and a pigeon feather

You should be OK in a couple of days

Should the feather be from a live or dead pigeoon, or doesn't it matter?

Walk it off. It is a pain based game.

Ofcourse I am not medically trained just my 2 cents, but generally things like this do have warning signs, just soreness to an area is not a 'red flag' symptom.

Any advice given by a faceless stranger on a internet forum should be taken as merely a suggestion.

But seriously, suggesting he should run to a doctor from a single blow which didn't even floor him... Seems a little OTT imo...

Thats why my personal advice is leave it about a week and if no improvement then go and see a doctor... It is common sense :good

thanks for the advice guys, ive had a small amount of improvement, getting in and out of bed isnt as painful but the sneezing and coughing still hurts, i think i may just have some bruised ribs.
