Oscar was green at 130 and probably weight drained. He won a title against Jimmy bredahl. Big deal. He was still improving as a fighter. I wouldn't pick him against the top 130 lb fighters in history based on his 2 fights against modest opposition was DLH was still improving as a fighter.

Arguello peaked in the Escalera rematch. Arguello was better at 130 than 126 or 135. Mayweather probably beats him though.

All pros adjust, but he didn't lose like Arguello at 126 :nono

The lazy myth of being drained (ask Hopkins/Hagler) is total B.S.

When DLH came they had a plan (not necessarily in his ATG interest), he was to make big $ outdoing JCC in his own game & he did. DLH could have had a 50-0 Ricardo Lopez like career at 130, but he would have made much less $.

Promoters, Managers, teams members & in many times fighters all want to get paid big. Fighters self-deceptive pride makes moving up the future (getting strong, feeling better & some youngsters looking good/living good...etc) All the stuff we hear before boxers fade into cherry picking versions of their original prime....Hagler/Hopkins didn't go the weak hedonistic path they embraced hardship & punished the less disciplined boxers in the ring :toney

Its a business, but few like Hagler & Hopkins put boxing superiority above everything. Hagler stayed all his career & Hopkins had to be beat twice by an Undefeated fighter that he couldn't outbox...thus forcing him out of his den at 160

says the newbie/alt with 11 posts :nono

27-0-0-0 (KO 27), if Valero is not on top 23yo Sanchez/Harry Greb & other legendar figures are out too. Because of the primitive emotions of people who judge ATG champions behavior outside the ring.

Edwin Valero wasn't a role model he came to put a beat down upon foes, preaching & hypocrisy he left to blown up Minimumweight PED poster model Manny Pacquiao :deal

Edwin Valero is so far off this list and behind all the other 11 guys you named, it isn't even close to being close to being funny.

When ranking super-featherweights, we talk of those who may have been active in other weight classes above or below, yet still were active at some stage at 130lbs.

Alexis Arguello then, is the greatest super featherweight, with Pretty Boy Floyd second...although PBF would beat Arguello in a head-to-head matchup.

Valero beat one decent opponent at 130. How is he on the list?

This guy doesn't know a god damn thing about boxing. Kid thinks Alexis Arguello, a 5'10 3 division champ with ATG punching power was a blown up FW..

    1. Floyd Mayweather
    2. Alexis Arguello(although I wouldn't argue him being number 1)
    3. JCC
    4. Azuma Nelson
    5. Hector Camacho

So the Morales trilogy and his second fights with Marquez and Barrera are enough for Pac to crack the list for you? He won the lineal title with that controversial SD over Marquez then immediately moved up in weight. Had a short stay there and his only other notable win really is Jorge Solis... Debatable but I'd reckon in my opinion he likely falls short.

Until then, Alexis Arguello is no.1 in terms of greatness @ 130.

Morales and Barrera are both ATG's who did decent work at the weight. And his win over Marquez (which I scored for him) ensured that emerged as the top 130lb fighter in the second portion of the decade. Overall, he's 7-1 at the weight, having avenged the loss and having scored wins over 3 HOF's. Plus, he became lineal champion. That's a lot of good work in a short time.

8 might be a bit high, but the quality of work ensures that he's in the discussion.

Arguello with Reyes gloves might make mincemeat of the handsome Del LaHoya's face if Oscar fights inside. If Oscar runs....he might outbox Alexis at long range.

Even if DLH were to run, Arguello chases him down late.
If its a 15 round fight, Arguello by murder!
