Jack Dillon, Maxie Rosenbloom, John Henry Lewis, Victor Galindez, Matthew Saad Muhammad, etc are all possible inclusions.

 

Is this about accomplishment or H2H? A prime RJJ beats most fighters on that list, even if he doesn't belong on it himself for resume.

Foster seems abit low for me but otherwise good list

 

If Loughran makes it, than surly Jack Delaney is a top ten. More like the Gene Tunney lightheavyweight in turns of style.

 

Where Roy Jones Jr.? Why are Spinks and Foster so low on the list? Shouldn't Greb be on that list if we are including Langford, Tunney, and others from earlier eras?

There is no doubt whatsoever that Fitzsimmons should be in the list, but i think that 10 is too low. Certainly he should be above Foster and Conn. Tommy Burns is another who might be close to top 10.

For mine, Foster probably doesnt make the top 10 but i must admit i am still very undecided on this. Charles, Moore and Tunney seem to be close to consensus picks as light heavy top guns, but i am not as convinced that Fitzsimmons wouldnt Spark the three of them (I need to fully think about it) or possibly even Langford or others.

One of the toughest parts is to decide how much weight to give a light heavys career based on what they did in the heavyweight (or possibly middleweight) decisions.

 

I don't see how fitzsimmons could be above them at 175lb. Both beat better competition at 175lb, actually held a title reign in there PRIME years at 175lb, and realistically both would kill him h2h. Conn would win every round and knock fitzimmons out late, and foster would decapitate fitzimmons with one shot early one.

How? He cleaned out a competitive mid 1960s era becoming the first fighter to knock out highly skilled granite chins Dick Tiger, Eddie Cotton, Allen Thomas, and Henry Hank. He then went on to dominate the best of the late 1960s-early 1970s. h2h with his Height/Reach/Jab/one punch power/and elegant boxing skills he is a NIGHTMARE for most in history.

I dont see think tunney should be rated over Greb or Loughran. I used too, but not anymore. Loughran won the newspaper decision over tunney at just a ripe 20 years old, and went on to dominate the division longer and beat better comp over a longer period of time. Harry Greb twice beat gene tunney, and the series was pretty much even in each fight tunney weighed UNDER 175lb...and Greb beat something like 6 or 7 linear lightheavywight champions and did not draw the color line against Kid Norfolk, so this blows away gene.
