This isn't a racist thread in any way but whenever the top 10 ATG Heavies are discussed caucasian fighters generally (and justifiably) don't rate much of a mention,Marciano and Dempsey excepted. I'm wondering who the posters here rank as the absolute best of the white guys. After the obvious Marciano's and Dempsey's the water gets a bit murky. Tunney didn't really do that much at Heavy.Quarry had some great wins but was always short of the elite.Tommy Burns was a midget. The Klitschko's have to rate highly but both have bad losses and ordinary resume's.Guy's like Cooper and Bugner are remembered more for their losses etc etc. Anyway this is my list based on achievement at Heavy which I admittedly have done pretty much off the cuff. 1-Marciano 2-Dempsey 3-Jeffries 4-Vitali Klitschko 5-Wlad Klitschko 6-Tunney 7-Johanssen 8-Quarry 9-Fitzsimmons 10-Schmeling/Max Baer I've probably forgotten some glaringly obvious fighters but I don't rate guys like Willard and Carnera very highly and don't know enough about Choynski.Corbett deserves a mention but his record isn't that great and Chuvalo while having a great record, lost when it counted against the best. What's your thoughts?
You claim to produce a list of all-time great "white" heavyweights, yet populate your list with Italians and Irishmen? See, this is why the Klan denied your application.
Tommy Burns deserves more credit than Jeffries, Johannson, Fitzsimmons, Tunney, Dempsey, Schmeling and Fitz as champion's credentials go. The Clit bros. dont deserve to be listed.
Yeah, them Italians have got tainted blood. Just realized Dempsey was part Cherokee, part Irish and part Jewish , so he's no longer my favourite!.Jeffries had Dutch blood so he is suspect,Burns had French origins,so he's out. Got IT ! BOB FITZSIMMONS! A TRUE BRIT!
You think? He never won the lineal title, defended against some pretty poor opposition (Squires,Moir,Lang,Palmer,Roche) could only draw with Jack O'Brien and got an absolute pasting by Johnson. I stand by not rating him up with the best as all the fighters you listed below him scored more significent wins than Burns.
Apologies. My new "Arayan" Heavyweights. 1-Hitler 2-Goering 3-Himmler 4-Hess 5-Mengler 6-Goebbels 7-Heydrich 8-Goethe 9-Eichmen 10-Keitel Zeig Heil!! ****.
Take it easy he's only having a bit of mild fun with you. ps, Is that Harvey Keitel ? Because he's of Polish extraction . Oh, and its Aryan not Arayan,Mengele ,not Mengler,Eichman ,not Eichmen, and what is the writer, playwright and philosopher Goethe doing on this list?.We all take the **** out of each other on here its nothing personal, but your thread has been done quite a few times before.:good
Depends how you look at it. He couldn't win the lineal title because Jeffreis retired. Having beaten Hart, he was still champ. Was anyone else supposed champ???? As H/W champion of the WORLD, he made his business proving he was a champion of the world. He took on champions from 4 countries, defended his title 11 times inside 3 years. A draw with O'Brian included. Considering his size, his championship tenure is better than that of any bloke from Sullivan to Louis. Its fine mate, you can rate your fighters by who they faught along the way, but dont bag Tommy out for his effort as champ. None of these blokes made half the effort of Burns, and less of them had the balls to fight the most menacing 'coloured' fighter in their respective days.
No Wagner? No Friedrich Nietzsche? This list has even less credibility! If Der Fuhrer were here he'd kick you in the yarbles he would!
I was referring to Wilhelm Keitel the Field Marshal of Nazi Germany, and the Goethe I was referring to was Amon Goth the bad guy played by Ralph Fiennes in Schindlers List.Just another example of my **** spelling of German names. No sweat,it was only after I'd posted that I realised it was probably tongue in cheek and that I'd made a **** of myself. Sorry if it's been done before but I honestly haven't seen it before and was keen to see other peoples opinions.:good
IMO, had the game never changed with championship bouts being scheduled for 45 rounds, not so squeamish referees, and the like, Jim Jeffries is the greatest of all time. I dont think nobody, including Muhammad Ali, could have defeated him. May have out pointed, and chopped him up for 20+ rounds, but they would not outlast him.
I think this is a reasonably good list. I might be inclined to rearrange a few names, but other than that, I have no problem with it.
