Is that opinion too mainstream for you?

What Robinson did to him in the last two rounds of fight IV was sickening, and i doubt anyone else would've remained concious after that kind of punishment.

Maybe Hagler/Toney/McCallum could survive a hellacious beatdown like that. But Lamotta did survive it. And it was coming from the greatest puncher of all time, maybe 40+, accurate, power punches. And just look at what one or two of them were doing to everyone else around that time.

les darcy. fought and won titles from middle to heavy, losing his front teth in one puch from a heavy, whom he went on to destroy.

he fought very square, head high, not chin on chest. never sparked. he was easy to hit, and was hit by big men, never sparked.

Is your implication here the most popular ideas and thoughts are always the correct ones?

Taking severe amounts of punishment from a man far smaller then you <<< taking severe punishment from a hard hitting man far larger then you.

How can that not be a factor when we're rating ones chin? I don't know if you're judging in a P4P sense or not, but I don't think it's really up for discussion if LaMotta had a better chin then McCullough.

Wanye moved up multiple weight classes and ate flush bombs from Hamed, maybe he hardest hitter ever at that weight.

I find that far more impressive then LaMotta eating punches from a man he had 15-20 pounds on.

I consider most of the greatest chins of all time to belong to fighters who had the living **** smacked out of them while greatly outsized and outgunned.

    See McCullough/Harrison for another example.

If you're seriously going to be ignorant here that LaMotta isn't the generic answer to "best chin ever" to the point of absurdity, feel free

And what of LaMotta's fights with huge hitting Lt. Heavy Irish Bob Murphy (Danny Nardico as well, in which the aging LaMotta's corner stopped the bout)?

The comparison between Hamed and Robinson is invalid for the simple reason that A) Robinson proved his power conclusively at Middlweight, and B) He was hitting Jake far more often than Hamed was hitting McCullough. Hamed was hitting McCullough with big shots, but I'd say Robinson's combinations were more damaging on the whole, size be damned. Then you've got guys like Bob Satterfield and to a lesser extent Jose Basora.

LaMotta's chin was a 10/10, any way you wanna slice it. So was McCullough's, mind you.
