Yea i thought his inclusion would raise a few eyebrows mate but anyone who can recover enough from a Magnum wound to fight Clay has to be shown some love .(Plus he banged like a *******) and yes Wilde is probably my favourite of all time , ive only seen two bits of footage of him fighting but belive me mate ive been in more Welsh attics looking for long lost footage than i've had hot meals ...I know its an illness that can be treated these days but WTF ,
Is it true he was a pretty cranky old man in the last years of his life?? Never respecting the likes of Randy Turpin, Terry Downs etc??
We all get a tad cranky with time , now **** off ya **** ... Flamer do yourself a favour and go to Amazon.com and buy the copy they have there of "Fighting was my buisness" Jimmy Wildes ammended Autobiography . Bargain mate .:good
I have a 1st edition of 'the art of boxing'... Hardly an autobiography.. will have to get hold of a copy of 'Fighting was my business'... Ya reakon Wilde was pissed off with Tel Downes due to his own book..'My Bleedin' Business'??
More than likley mate but a its the time honoured tradition for the elder statesmen to whinge about how much tougher it was in their day , but in Wilde's case growing up in a Strike ridden starving coal mining town in the Rhondda Valley it probably was .
Fighting to feed themselves and another hand full of mouths, those old *******s were stubborn as hell. I guess they didn't know the difference and took it as it come.
Most men in those days were miners & mountain fighters that was just what it says on the tin , (they fought Mountain side bouts just to earn enough money to feed their kid's ), tough times breed tough men . Jim Driscoll & the sicky child that was Freddie Welsh ( Who moved to the States whilst a young man for health reasons ) . gotta watch Wales batter Ipswich Express's mob now , Take it easy lads .:good
