In a rough but not a properly thought out exact order.... JONES JR MAYWEATHER PACQUIAO MORALES BARRERA HOPKINS LOPEZ MARQUEZ MOSELY CALZAGHE
1. Pacquiao 2. Hopkins 3. Jones 4. Calzaghe 5. Lewis 6. Holyfield 7. Marquez 8 Barrera 9. Mayweather 10. Morales
Its my opinion, if we all thought the same way it would be a boring world and there would be no point in listing our 10. atsch
Tough to put a top 10 P4P list together of the last 15 years but here goes 1. Roy Jones Jr 2. Floyd Mayweather 3. Lennox Lewis 4. Manny Pacquiao 5. Bernard Hopkins 6. Juan Manuel Marquez 7. Joe Calzaghe 8. Shane Mosley 9. Erik Morales / Marco Antonio Barrera 10. Naseem Hamed
Seconded. There is no place for someone with a resume like Calzaghe's in a top 10 of this era. If he is in there, history would not look kindly on this generation.
His resume has some cans on it for sure, but he beat everyone, picked up some fantastic wins towards the latter part of his career, has amazing skills and was utterly dominant of his weight for a decade. Resume isnt everything, especially if it has horrible losses on it. Thats just my opinion though and i know it wont change yours because you cant stand Joe, but at least show the guy some more appreciation, its criminal how hard you are on him.:?
I think that he deserves to be in the top 10 but no higher than 7 lewis is definatly one of the best fighters of his generation
1. Roy Jones 2. Manny Pacquiao 3. Floyd Mayweather 4. Bernard Hopkins 5. Oscar De La Hoya 6. Lennox Lewis 7. Marco Antonio Barrera 8. Eric Morales 9. Juan Manuel Marquez 10. Felix Trinidad
It's not a case of being hard or soft on him, I'm not his ****ing dad! My considered opinion after watching all of his world title fights (many more than once) is that he is very overrated in terms of ability, and his resume is weak. Not decent, not ok, but weak. If that offends you then that's unfortunate, but that is my genuine opinion as a keen boxing fan.
I cannot find a place in a top 10 for him. For me it cannot be justified. Who does he deserve to be ahead of from this eleven? Jones Pacquiao Hopkins Mayweather Barrera Morales De La Hoya Lewis Mosley Marquez Trinidad I would also have Winky over him, but I am aware I would be in the minority there. I would also have Toney and Holyfield over him, but I'm not including them because their peaks were pre-'94. For me, Calzaghe is closer to guys like Winky, Tszyu, JL Castillo and Casamayor than he is to the likes of Jones, Pacquiao, Hopkins and Mayweather. The resume can't lie.
A very wise minority. If you break down Winky's skill-set, and contrast it to Calzaghes, it doesn't reflect well on the Welshman's all-round ability, in comparison. Calzaghe has greater accomplishments, but Winky has a better resume.
