Mind you, there's no PPV in Germany. These fights were all broadcasted by free TV station RTL. You won't find any Ali or Holmes fights because of different times zones. Fights in the US are usually between 3 and 6am in Germany.

EDIT: Germany's population is roughly 82 mio. So that you can view these numbers in the grand scheme of things.

Haye is the Floyd Mayweather of Europe. The cash cow of European boxing.

When he fights it's like the Superbowl. Numbers don't lie

Surprisingly, he does have quite a following in Germany. The domestic BILD newspaper rendered him a "villain" which had quite an unexpected effect as there is apparently a fairly large groupe of people who were/are tired of the Klits.

ARD even broadcasted Haye vs. Harrison with a decent TV rating of 4,17 mio on average which is extraordinary considering there was no German or German-based boxer in the ring.

I don't know about Europe in general, but yeah, in Germany Haye is basically free monehz.

    That's were the problem lies.
Boxing would probably still be a popular (mainstream) sport in those countries, if PPV hadn't ruined it.
