Sanchez - Pedroza Chandler - Pintor Saad - Mustafa II unification Duran - Cervantes 76ish Hagler - Benitez (wishful thinking that in the 82 timeframe Benitez gets in Hagler's head and makes a great fight). Leonard - Pryor Buchanan - Dejesus Mayweather - Pac 5 years ago Monzon - Hagler (could've happened but not prime for prime) Lamotta - Graziano
I like this. San-Ped and Pint-Chand and Saad-Spinks. I would add Fletcher-Hamsho and Fletcher-Hagler. VERY interesting fights. And Duran-Cuevas early 1979. And the biggy- Little Red vs Gomez 1979
Sullivan-Jackson (1888] - The fight should have happened though their respective primes did not overlap. Johnson-Langford II (1910) - The proposed bout in London comes off. Driscoll-Attell II (1910) - Jim's promise to an orphanage stopped him proving (to everyone) that he was the best featherweight. Dempsey-Wills (1922) - In between Carpentier and Gibbons. Wills slightly past it but active and in good form. Burley-Robinson (1946) - The generally accepted duck by Robby. Cerdan-Robinson (1946) - Always been intrigued by this one. The Frenchman has it in him to give Ray serious trouble. Sanchez-Arguello (1980-82) - Had the opportunity arose, made sense during this period... Bowe-Lewis (1992) - A unique mix of potential doubt on Bowe's side and inexperience on Lewis'. Morales-Marquez (2003) - Considering the chemistry between the modern day fab four, this one that got away is loaded with promise. Pacquiao-Mayweather (2009) - The Cotto performance is what put a spanner in the works, so they should have clashed directly after Manny demolished Hatton.
Love the Fletcher fights.Forgot about Duran-Cuevas, and the 1979 timeline is perfect. Little Red and Gomez should've happened. Hamsho-Roldan would've also been an interesting fight, too.
Toney vs Hopkins Vitali vs Povetkin Roy Jones vs Collins Oscar De LaHoya vs Cotto Mosely- vs Berto (cancelled), Judah, Mayweather @135 Tyson vs Holyfield 1990
Yes, Hamsho-Roldan would have been good. I remember reading an article in 1983 before the Hag-Sibbo fight where Hamsho's manager was begging to fight Sibson. He felt he had no heart.
Why was the 70s the greatest heavyweight era? Primarily because the top fights happened! It was the happy zone between the colour bar, and Don King.
US vs UK fights that should've happened. Steele vs McAvoy - believe it was tossed around Armstrong vs Boon - yes! McAvoy vs Gilroy - Scheduled Zivic vs Roderick, could've been a great fight Conn vs Mills, brief window, a tough battle thil vs cerdan, a very brief window of possibility.
