You don't think a welterweight conceding 8 lbs to a middleweight is significant ?
FYI the light middle weight class was established in1962.Papp fought Christenson in 1962 and 1964.
Papp turned pro in May 1957 and he weighed 158.5lbs.He was a full fledged middleweight his entire pro career and he never scaled less than157,25lbs during it!
    You really are a nonsense!

He was long time in Middleweight, before Light-Middleweight was created. Papp fought as light-middleweight crom 1948 to 1956 and this against light-heavyweights like Pietrzykowski . You just humilate yourself with your childish stuff...

And to the fight about McGormick and Christensen, if you not have watched it you shouldn't judge about this only based of a British newspaper report. Have you nothing learned from your Mildenberger vs. Folley disaster/ mistake (where you tried the cheap shot two times)?

Well it’s just you keep quoting his amateur career, obviously to suit your agenda.

No it was always part of his achievement and therefore it is narrow minded and dumb to ignore it.

No, it’s dumb to bring it up as an argument when discussing his record as a professional.

Where do you read this in the title of the topic?
Either you are too idiotic to understand or you have to improce your reading skills.

No, no, no - just no! I created the thread - it's about professionals only, like 50,000 of the other threads in classic. You know this so stop playing dumb. If the thread was about amateurs it would need to say it in the title because 99% of the threads in classic are about professional boxers. Hence it is utterly redundant to mention 'professionals' in the thread title. Stop trolling and get the **** out of this thread.

Why shall it be, if it is not described that way?
The achievement in boxing is both amateurs and professionals combinated (for everyone) and we don't have an exclusive section for amateurs.
So I don't have to play dumb, because you appear dumb if you just assume we all view it that way you possible mean it, while we can't know how your interpreation is, if nothing have to be meant that way.
It is just your mistake! Last time I looked there was writen, the only requirement is to not have won a world title, which applies here.
Also is the Classic section as far as I'm aware not only for professional boxing meant as there is no explanation about this and I did already few trivias here about Olympics previous.

If there would be an amateur section (which doesn't exist yet) I would like to create topics about fanatasy fights like Tszyu vs. Abdulajew (which were two of the most decorated amateurs around their weight, while the later one was here possible a little bit more successful, as profis was it opposite of course).
