It’s actually a great shout, although he never fought for the title he fought other contenders, beating some, losing to others.
He also gave Minter hell in 3 fights, beat Sibson and was prepared to go out of his comfort zone and fight in the other guys backyard.
Overall he was the definition of a true contender, this should be explained to a certain other “contributer” on this thread.

DURING HIS PROFESSIONAL CAREER PAPP WAS EXCLUSIVELY A MIDDLE WEIGHT HE NEVER SCALED LESS THAN 157.25LBs. THE REPORT I POSTED WAS FROM A DANISH NEWSPAPER. CHRISTENSON WAS DANISH FIGHTING IN COPENHAGEN McCORMACK HAD FLOORED CHRISTENSON AND WAS LEADING ON POINTS.
WAKE UP! NOBODY EVER AGREES WITH YOU! THAT SHOULD TELL EVEN A THICKO LIKE YOU SOMETHING!

I'm not interested in the view of someone. It is a matter of fact you didn't make clear what it is about and now you try to pass your own fault to me. I just answered how it was writen and nothing else.

Well there agreed over 750 times users with me...!

And maybe was it a newspaper which just didn't like him, possible a court-paper from a competitor/ rival promoter. He won also against Manca before the rematch.
And Papp fought him in Copenhagen too, as he often fought in the backyard of the opponent. To pretend he was protected in Vienna or a hometown boxer it totally unfair.

There is no proof that McCormack was leading, it was just an assumption.

I think you may have posted this in the wrong thread. Although, to be honest, your comment makes no less sense than anything Ra’s Al-Ghul has posted so far!

You got it exactly right, except for the last word .You are not interested in the view of anybody!
You'e only here to propound your own absurd views and then get irrationaly annoyed when nobody agrees with them.
Then you commence to tell us all how stupid we all are and that we cant read properly.
The sheer irony of your monotonous reaction is absolutely priceless!

Well I can't help when somebodies are too narrow-minded and ignorant to understand, to rate the achievement of a boxer most accurate, you have to regard both amateur and professional merits.

Though I'm not interested in the opinions of idiots...

I can't do anything when you are not bothered to read the whole contend of any topic/ thread, otherwise you might have noticed your friend Jel agreed with me on the second page already (and on the first actual as well)...

You are either a sick lier or you are mentally disabled to follow. Are you not bored to get humilated in each subject?

Sibson was (the first) IBF world champion in1983.

Rather than Murray deserve to be in it Allen, Wright, Mercado, maybe Korobov and Echols.

I would also mention Tony Janiro and Tony Mundine.

The inaugural IBF recognized middleweight title bout was between Marvin Hagler and Wilford Scypion. Tony Sibson was never IBF titleholder.
