    Get rid of Fitz.

I think most of the blokes who know a lot more than myself will happily incorperate the other 9 in their top 10.

    Nice list mate.

Good list overall. IN terms of the fighters I can't really fault it. I'd put Jones over Hopkins for head-to-head reasons, though and maybe Walker a little higher.

Your top four is the right four, though I go Robinson, Monzon, Greb, Hagler. Agree with Hopkins and Walker's position is fine with me.

Jones is a big negative in my view. The guy fought only around 20 times under the 160lb limit and many, many of these fights were literally against bums - Jones's first manager, Jones senior was notoriously protective/jealous. How can Jones be above LaMotta who beat your number 4 and 7? Or NP Jack Dempsey with that massive unbeaten run?

Your final three are fine, but I think Tiger and LaMotta should rank above Cerdan. Your thoughts?

Also, why no Holman Williams? He has a better MW wins ledger than maybe every one of those men at this weight. Your thoughts?

Finally, what about Tiger Flowers? Robbed against Walker and twice beat Greb? No birth for him?

I sound like a nag, I understand that there are only ten spots.

I know Jones may not have accomplished a hell lot at that weight but stylistically he is a nightmare for most of the top 10. I cannot judge Harry Greb in a head to head sense since we have no footage but other then that Jones had the speed, skill, abilty to pretty much stand a good shot of beating anyone on the list. Had he stayed at the weight and dominated, hed be top 3. and i am not a RJJ fan but head to head he is a great fighter.

Lamotta over Marcel? Acomplishments:Yes. Ability: Lamottas not as good. Cerdan was another fighter who is great in a head to head sense. I think Marcel stands a good shot at anyone on the list whereas i dont think Lamotta does.

I simply cant rank Nonpariel dempsey, i have no footage of him, and i have no footage of anyone he ever beat. Atleast with Greb, i have footage of Tunney, Mike and Tommy Gibbons, Loughran, Walker, Brennan- his resume is too outstanding for him not to be there. Its a pity there is no film on him.

Ur right about Williams and Flowers. Perhaps they should be in there, i might have to reconsider this. Good points. Middleweight historically is a very deep division and like u said there are only 10 spots.

O dear lord. Marcel Cerdan over Jake Lamotta?:patsch Lamotta not only has the much better resume, he also holds a dominant win over cerdan.

Here check for yourself you can clearly see lamotta is dominating cerdan before the injury even happens. Lamotta is credited in the ring record books for flooring cerdan in the first round with a left hook too.

Says who? What film have you seen of Jake Lamotta in his prime? here check this out

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0ptRgVF1uc

Lamotta had 3 superhuman traits that made him special. He has Hercules like strength(you could not move him backwards), he was like a human windmill(he never got tired throwing punches), he had the best chin of all time(he could not be floored). So basically lamotta if he wanted too could charge right into you and beat you down not having to worry about getting hurt or getting tired.

Lamottas defense: VERY UNDERRATED. check that video. Lamotta had very good headmovement, in fact he moved his head better than most in history. He was very cute and adapt at slipping jabs, see the robinson fight. lamotta also blocked body punches very well with his elbows. lamotta was quite the cagey fellow on defense, and the way he played possumm to trick his opponents was a thing of beauty.

Marcel cerdan did not step up to top comptetiton very long. When he did, he lost to cyrille dellanoit, he was knocked down 3 times by journeyman anton raddick and lucky to make it out of the ring chicago tribune called that decision "Very disputed". He was knocked down, beaten up, then thrown to the ground, then mauled by jake lamotta in a one sided beating. cerdan also avoided fighting most of the top middleweights of the 1940s, especially the murders row. Jake took on a whole slew of murders row.

Cerdan was very very good. Classic Boxer-Puncher with very good but not great traits, but Lamotta had great traits. His style would have always beaten cerdan, and I think it matches up better vs the rest of the field than cerdan's.

A little hypocritcal dont you think considering Lamotta beat the # 4 and the # 8 on your list while cerdan beat NO ONE on your list. Lamotta already proved he could beat two guys on your list, while cerdan did not.

If lamotta showed up in the same hungry, non weight drained form like he did in the first fight...He would have beat the **** out of marcel again. it would have been same thing. Marcel trying to match lamotta physically, and lamotta manhandling him around and swarming him with punches. Marcel technically was BRILLIANT, but Marcel didnt like lamotta because jake didnt give him any room to breathe. Marcel needed room to get off his punchs. jake did not give him room. Lamotta was cuter than alot give him credit for, the man could take any punch but he also could slip any punch as well.

Fair enough - i think he's overated at this weight due to his experience problem (and he has one) but he is very, very talented.

One thing I would say to you is this - ALL these guys are a nightmare head to head. I believe it is hard for any of these guys to achieve any great edge in the head to head department because the division is so deep. It's not like HW where outside of (my) top 4 most guys are losing to the best. But LaMotta has a really good chance to beat Walker head to head, for example, and he did beat your#4, admittedly for 1/6. See my point?

I think LaMotta is horrible trouble for everyone on your list, without exception. Cerdan might too...but I tend to agree with Q on this. I think LaMotta may have been a better fighter. I think your position is fine - absolutley fine, Cerdan may have been better - but given that you have at least four spots between them and given that we agree Jake achieved more, I think you ought to look again.

Williams has a better win ledger than Hopkisn for sure, he's your #5...I personally don't think he should be lower than 6 or 7.

What is your thinking on Charley Burley?

Mcgrain, I have him right there at # 12. Hes right there, he deserves to be top 10, sometimes I feel like replacing him with Tiger. Marshalls huge dominant wins over Lamotta(at 160) and ezzard charles(right around the time charles twice beat burley at 160), plus Burley himself at 160 all do it for me. Plus I have film of lloyd marshall past his prime in 1946 and he looks great. He looks like a offensive version of archie moore on film.

One could also make a case Eddie Booker deserves to be higher than both Holman Williams AND Lloyd marshall AND charley burley
