Top 10 greatest middleweights of all time

It was defintley a great win. Zale was still a very good puncher DMT, but I dont think Tony was prime anymore. Tony went life and death trilogy with Rock Graziano, whom Zale would have toyed with pre WW II. Zale lost 4 long years due to war, and more than that when you fight in war for 4 years that takes something out of you physically and mentally. Zale was defintley past his prime by 1946. Didnt mean he still coudlnt fight though.

 

Just curious, How is it that Greb as a Middleweight (arguably his best weight) is consistantly ranked below, Hagler ,Monzon & Robinson. Yet on a ATG list he is ranked far higher. Only behind Robinson, & yet Monzon & Hagler are nowhere to be seen...

 

basically because he fought at higher weights and won fights there but at MW people achieved more just at middleweight but he achieved more at high weights

and when i make a MW ranking i base it on what they done in that weight nothing above or below it thats for ATG lists

i wouldnt really say that but it is a good point never really thought on it but we can make a good guess of who he could beat going by reports and films of his opponents

I think pep could do it hed be such a small target it would be like an Elephant vs a Mosquito 1 stamp from an elephant and its all over but how long could the mosquito go for

 

I just reviewed a top 10 ATG list on another thread. All the fighters with the exception of Ali & Benny Leonard had moved up to multiple divisions. to claim titles. Is it fair to other long term Champions,who stayed in thier own weight to be overshadowed in this way? Hagler, Monzon, Pep, Sanchez. I understand it's based on defeating the best class of competition. But is the feat magnified if a fighter moves up to defeat a Champion in a higher weight?

 

thats a good one. I am a huge Pep fan so my money would be on Pep. I think Marciano would be the hardest Heavyweight for Pep to survive with actually but i think he could do it as he was slick as hell wasnt he.

But no offence to Marciano he was what i call a stupid fighter (it dosent mean his IQ) it means like when you feint he dosent even notice it, you hit him and he keeps coming forward. its like me and my mates playing football (British) my mate plays for a proffessional team and does all this skill on me but i just ignore it and stick my foot in and win the ball.

But i think Pep would have enoguh skill to survive a round.

i think if you dominate a division it is better than winning multiple weight classes but if you dominate multiple weight classes that is very impressive

 

I don't think Pep would make it. Marciano didn't care if your arms were up or down. He just kept swinging. Makes no difference to him if he hits, Body, head or arms.
