It's a decent list, but Johnson should be nowhere near the top 10!!!

I would take Johnson and Tunney out and put Moore and Charles in. But otherwise a fair list.

The reason to put Jack Johnson in that list was more of his accomplishments of being the first black heavyweight champ and he would of been greater if he wouldn't have been kicked out of the USA.

Tunney wasn't just the guy who just beat Dempsey but he was the first fighter of the year and also he was the first fighter to go up from light heavyweight to Heavyweight and win a world Championship. If was tough to keep Moore and Charles out but I felt Tunney and Johnson did more historically to earn a top 10 spot.

He was done; ducking his top contender in Sam Langford and encoutering serious mental issues. Maybe he wouldn't have if it weren't for the way he was hounded by the powers that were, maybe that's fair to say, but post-Jeffries, Johnson was there to be taken by a top man. Still, he did have lots of good boxing left in him, but I think his post-exile form is reflective of his true ability.

Jack Johnson belongs nowhere near a top 10 P4P list. He'd rank about that high on a Heavyweight list.

The top 4 is pretty much in consensus (at least in certain circles) and consists of Robinson, Greb, Armstrong, and Langford.

After that you have to have Ezzard Charles in the top 10, though he could arguably be placed just behind those 4. His resume is second to none outside of that group, and was probably even better than Robinson's based on the quality of the opposition he was constantly facing.

Some fighters to look into would be Bob Fitzsimmons, Barbados Joe Walcott, and Mickey Walker. All weight-jumping greats who accomplished remarkable feats.

I'd leave Louis outside of the top 15 personally. Ali is the only HW that has a claim for the top 10 P4P in my book, and he's borderline. I'd rank him alongside Willie Pep in that sense. Benny Leonard outranks both the way I see it. His reign as Lightweight champ was probably more conclusive than any other fighter has ever had at any particular weight class.

Tunney doesn't crack my personal top 20, though he was undoubtedly a great fighter. He missed out on quite a few fights he should've when he drew the color line. Tommy Loughran fought the much better opposition among his LHW counterparts.

Archie Moore and Barney Ross are two others I'd put in the 10-15 range, and fighters like George Dixon are ones you'd have to do a fair bit more research on outside of Boxrec, as it doesn't tell the full story. Not by a long shot.

Good luck with that man, I can't ever come up with a top 10 that I like or think is fair enough to post in order.

If I'm asked to try and split hairs between the greatest of the greats, there's only a few names that make it on my list every single time: Armstrong, Greb, Robinson, Langford, Pep, and Benny Leonard.

Outside of them, it's always in flux.

Honestly I have Harry Greb 11 on my list but the only problem is that Harry Greb died too young at 32 years old. If he had a longer career he would be top 5 pound for pound all time.

Ezzard Charles is a great fighter but I believe he's more in the top 20 range than top 10 range. He's an all time great fighter but damn it's really hard to debate your top 10 list because many Champions can easily be in that list.
