    p4p
1.Julian Jackson-his KO of Herol Graham was mythical.
    2.Thomas Hearns
3.Earnie Shavers That punch that dropped Holmes may have knocked out any human being in history but then again Ali took some devastating shots off him and a recent report says there is evidence that Shavers was the fighter that damaged Ali so much brain wise.
    4.Gerald McClellan
    5.Bob Foster
    6.Michael Moorer (light heavy)
    7.Ron Lyle
    8.George Foreman
9.Tommy Morrison (all he had was that quick left hook)
    10.Nazeem Hamed

lol, I'm sorry but this is a flawed post on many different levels. Sometimes it's best to keep one's mouth closed...

All of them were vicious punchers but some can be replaced others not so much, Hearns and Jackson can`t be outdone by anyone.

    5. Lewis

    1. Langford

Peter Maher and especially Joe Choynski were old school fighters with legendary punches. I believe Jim Jeffries cited Joe as the hardest puncher he faced, despite Jeffries having also faced Bob Fitzsimmons....

Johnson,Corbett,Fitz, and Sharkey also named Choynski as the hardest hitter they faced, pretty compelling testimony.

Bailey was a freak. When he lands that straight right, the other guy goes down like hes been shot in the head. The KOs of gato figueroa and mike jones were just disgusting

Thanks mcvey, I knew there was plenty of testimony about his power but I couldn't quite put my finger on all of them.

He's basically the Earnie Shaver's of his time, if you will, in that everyone that fought him is part of the consenus about his power.

Do these threads irritate anyone else or is it just my cynic, irritable self?

Here’s one way to think about it. The posters whom you disagree with are at least providing shine and appreciation to boxers whom you didn’t have room on your list for.

I find them irritating somewhat, but more so from the perspective of me making the lists...like the recent "name your favorite 5 fighters"....
Pretty simple and innocent right? Just make a list, that's all...bullspit!! I cannot make a concise, compact list of so called "essential" favorites...can't do it!!! Same with this one..."""hardest hitters"""....oh, only 10 of them huh? Same damned thing...it ends up so subjective. Oh, maybe there's no reason to get so irritated with lists of any kind, but it always happens with me.

Well, my irritation is two fold. One, I echo your sentiments from just now. The second is how poor most of these lists truly are.... I'm sorry but just seeing names like Freitas, Edwin Valero, Vitali Klitschko and Gerald McClellan on a top ten list of ALL TIME hitters gets under my skin. That list just screams "These are the exact years I've been following or are interesting in boxing" as opposed to any real research or substance behind these picks.

Like, if someone actually wanted to know I'd probably try to make a damn list and think about it at a little, but man... :hang

Anyway, how are you today rc? Any new years plans? :buitre:

I honestly don't think Tyson is anywhere near the top of the list in absolute power. It's his combination of speed and power that's so exceptional. Kind of like an M-1 carbine as opposed to an M-1 Garand.
