Is hardest punchers and greatest punchers the same? Earnie Shavers was one of the hardest punchers and his KO percentage was frightening but he wasn't always flawless in his finishing. Obviously he had Ali and Holmes badly hurt but they got through it - maybe they are notable exceptions... but he also couldn't put Ron Lyle away. Everyone who he fought was hurt by him though. Whereas someone like Joe Louis may not have hit as hard but when he had them in trouble, didn't let them off the hook.
Not the same thing, but I guess it really comes down to your interpretation if the thread starter leaves it open.
This list is about who hit harder, not who was more accurate in applying power. IMO p4p Julian Jackson has a valid claim at the no. 1 spot.
Probably every fighter who ever faced him seem to vote for Earnie Shavers . Including Muhammad Ali & Randall Tex Cobb. Both of whom ought to know. Thankfully Ive never been hit by Earnie myself lol
Maybe his lot of opponents choice Shavers but these are just opinions and i think sometimes these fighters ignore the objectivity. Or. Can you imagine when Holmes will praise Mike Tyson ?
I am very doubtful in Wladimir Klitschko's case because he couldn't knock Haye out but the decent (not great) cruiserweight Carl Thompson could.Of course i have another arguments too.
