Top 10 Heavies, after last night

    After last night, here's my top 10 heavyweights;

    1. Wladimir Klitschko
    2. Vitali Klitschko
    3. Povetkin
    4. Haye
    5. Chagaev
    6. Valuev
    7. Chambers
    8. Ibragimov
    9. Arreola
    10. Gomez

    Quite a difficult list to put together tbh, since the Klitschkos seem to retire more men than social security. I'm not 100% confident with it, but losing to the top 2 doesn't warrant a fighter dropping out of the list to be replaced by the latest hype job imo. Explanations, and thought on some of the fighters;

    Wlad/Vitali; vitali may rank higher in an all time list, but i rate chagaev and wlad's last performance was near perfect. Offensively its a toss up between them, vitali has a better chin, wlad never gets hit and moves about the ring better. I give wlad the edge because of age, but I have no problem with people who have vitali as number 1.

    Povetkin; beats anyone on the list beneath him, possibly has problems with valuev (the valuev who fought liakhovich)

    Haye; provides the biggest threat to wlad on this list, but loses to both Klits nonetheless. gets outworked by povetkin (i'd love to see that fight though) and will beat valuev on points in novemeber

    Chagaev and Ibragimov; i rate both of these guys, and can't put many fighters ahead of chagaev. i may be wrong. ibragimov drops a few places due to inactivity, but apparently he never quit and has just had visa problems in the US

    Valuev; i give him the benefit of the doubt with the holyfield fight. i think his size makes him very hard to beat, and because of this i can't rank him lower than 6th

    Chambers; has some solid wins, but is a hype job imo. i think he is a top heavyweight, but his punch output is pretty **** and his movement is not great. i have no reason to rate him any higher than this, and he will lose to wladimir in the same manner they all do

    Arreola and Gomez; ruiz is a reasonable alternative to either of these two. Fighters like kevin johnson and denis boytsov haven't done any more than these guys and their unbeaten records against nobodies do NOT warrant them being in the ring top 10 imo. dimitrenko doesn't belong in a top 10 heavy list after losing to chambers

    When will a klitschko fight valuev?? Surely that has to happen at some point?

    Ibragimov is retired.

    I would either put Boystov and Johnson

    Ibragimov has officially retired, so exclude him. Haye shouldn't be so high, even as a Brit and a fan he hasn't proved anything at HW yet. Chambers is guy I rate, I think he should crack the top 5, he's got the capabilities when in shape to beat anybody but the Klitschko's, and maybe Povetkin.

    Agreed. Haye should be lower, below Chambers, Valuev and Chagaev. IMO, even though Arreola lost, he should be higher than Haye - he's STILL accomplished more at HW!

    Chambers should be higher, imo higher than Povetkin off his impressive victory over Dimitrenko. Ibragimov, as you say, should be dropped. This is what I'd go with.

    It's never going to happen. Klitschko is unsure of fighting someone without having the size advantage, and Valuev is unsure about fighting someone who is skilled enough to hurt him. Both Klitschkos and Valuev have been at the top for a while now, yet there has been no serious headway in any of them fighting each other. Neither party wants it. They say they do, each party claims to have reached out, but their actions dictate otherwise.

    Pretty solid list. Haye can and should move up once he beats Valuev.

    I think it's a bit early to give Haye a ranking at all. After the Valuev fight we'll have a better idea of where he stands.

    End of the day, however you rank them, it's a weak division. The Klitschko fights of the last few years haven't even been competitive.

    HMMM, I know I'm going to get starched for this but, anyone who's had 2(TWO) split decisions (well,1 split, 1 MD) against Valuev,

    , deserves to be there probably more than him (Valuev).... Hence Ruiz should get a spot somewhere in that list!

    Chambers and Valuev have to be put above Haye, who has done close to nothing yet at HW.

    Absolutely. It will be his first victory over a top rated HW.

    I still won't fancy his chances against the Klitschkos much.:-(
