Ortiz top of Wlad on my list, logic

    Ortiz stops Jennings
    Wlad DEC Jennings

    Ortiz Undefeated
Wlad lost 4 times, 3 times by KO & 4th tried to headbutt Fury and still lost

Haye kind of gets the benefit of emeritus ranking.

MDM, even if he upsets Haye, isn't near 10.

Right now De Mori isn't top-100 HW both by boxrec rankings and knowlegable fans.

A bodybuilder's best win is close decision over completely shot Ed Mahone, and it was few years ago.

Re: your reply to my previous post in other thread ... sorry if I it was a bit dismissive. This 10 above looks more like a late 2017 10 if 7 to 9 happened to fade a lot and the younger HWs go from strength to strength. But if it was their next fight ... say March next year my 10 would be ...

    1. Tyson Fury
    2. Wladimir Klitschko
    3. Alexander Povetkin
    4. Kubrat Pulev
    5. Luis Ortiz
    6. Oleksandr Usyk*
    7. Deontay Wilder
    8. Joseph Parker
    9. Anthony Joshua
    10. Malik Scott

Tyson Fury - still pretty young, seems to be finding his own style and gaining confidence but is far from a dominant #1 ATM

Wladimir Klitschko - may have been fading since Jennings but could also come back in the Fury rematch focussed and hungry. No way would I put Wilder or any unproven HWs above him now.

Alexander Povetkin - been following since he was an absolutely outstanding amateur. Seems to have become more seasoned as a pro and his recent wins trump anything achieved by any HW below 3.

Kubrat Pulev - bombed out again Wlad but dismantled Ustinov not too far back. Would be formidable in later rounds, unlike say Joshua who may be very vulnerable late.

Luis Ortiz - have been following him for a couple of years and it's funny the amount of dismissive posts made about him in various past threads on this site. Outside of his offensive skills and solid chin, his vast amateur experience could be decisive in a war. Unlike, say Wilder who I don't think has the mental mechanisms to deal with the very top HWs.

Oleksandr Usyk* - Will throw him in here for the sake of it even tho he's a CW ATM. Based on his am. and WSB record there is every chance he would find a way to win against all but the top HWs, even now at this early stage in his Pro career. Around the same size as Holyfield and like Ortiz a southpaw.

Deontay Wilder - Deserves credit for his fight with Stiverne and even more so doing it over 12 rounds. But I reckon he was gifted his WBC shot. Really not sold on Wilder. I remember Boytsov on his run of early KOs but not stepping up. Could be more to him but no way can he be seen as a #2 just based on a win over Stiverne.

Joseph Parker - decisive wins over some solid HWs especially Kali Meehan who even at his age is still tough. Hard to say if right now he'd be ready for Teper, Takam or the best US fighters. Maybe shouldn't be top 10 ...

Anthony Joshua - same as Parker, could fold under adversity.

Malik Scott - frustratingly inactive for so long, but has seemed to have refined his game thru sparring. Win over Thompson maybe puts him in a 10 but the loss to Chisora maybe indicates that wins over top 10s may not come or may be squeaked only just.

Hughy Fury - too early ... very unlikely he'd be ahead of Wlad. Rudenko win was a really good sign tho.

OP has Joshua above Povetkin? For what, taking 7 rounds to beat an unknown who injured his shoulder and didn't fight for 2 years?

    1. Tyson Fury
    2. Wladimir Klitschko
    3. Alexander Povetkin
    4. Deontay Wilder
    5. Ruslan Chagaev
    6. Luis Ortiz
    7. Kubrat Pulev
    8. Vyacheslav Glazkov
    9. Bermane Stiverne
    10. Carlos Takam [David Haye will enter here]

I am a bit surprised to see that many of you does not rate Chagaev as a top10 heavy. I certainly think he still is and Chagaev-Browne should be a good fight.

Joshua has just said that he does not consider himself a top10 heavy, nor should we. They are certainly top15 with Parker, but top 10 is getting crowded these days.

    Fury
    Wlad
    Povetkin
    Pulev
    Ortiz
    Wilder
    Chagaev
    Takam
    Parker
    Helenius/Jennings

    Reason for ranking:
Fury: beat the man - something no one else could do for ten years
Wlad- dominant ATG - twilight of career. Vulnerable but still deserves respect.
Povetkin- great resume and has been on a violent tear through the division
Pulev- got bombed out vs Wlad but still has three solid wins against super heavies- Ustinov, Dinintrenko, Thompson. Was an Excellant amateur too.
Ortiz- extremely impressive win over Jennings a top 10 heavy. Pushed off to create space when ref took that away he moved on his toes showing adaptability. Beat Jennings at his own game plan in-fighting with perfect tight uppercut.
Wilder- like Ortiz only one standout win over Stiverne. As a belt holder seriously needs to step up his competition.
Chagaev- looked ready for retirement but two bounce back wins along with a fine resume keeps him on - for now.
Takam- a tough out that seeks and fights tough completion. Very skilled.
Parker- blue chip prospect on fast track.
Helenius/Jennings: Helenius has not looked the same in recent years but still has good resume and good physical attributes.
Jennings: has solid resume and can bounce back with proper matchmaking.

    Just missing cut: Joshua.
