Good video (always a good video) Rummy. I agree with the list; generally. I don't follow heavyweight so much that I could clearly see who I would award tenth place to. Maybe I would personally give Wilder the tenth place. And I have one question. How would you rank Hrgović if he had won Dubois?
Thank you! If Hrgovic won against Dubois (as I was expecting he would), I'd have Hrgovic at #5 behind Parker.
It is good video but I would put Fury and Joshua rated below Parker, Dubois, Zhang, Kabayel. They have a big followings and fame for achievements of years ago but RIGHT NOW i cannot see what they did recently to be rated at the top 3.
1. Usyk: Obviously. Undisputed and beat the #2 and #3 guy: 2. Fury: Former Champion. Only one loss against the #1 guy and did best against Usyk. 3. Joshua: Former Unified Champion. Is on a good run recently. Has a win over Parker. 4. Parker: Former WBO Champion. Did fight a lot of Top 10 names. On a good run recently. 5. Zhang: Dangerous H2H for anyone because of KO power. Wins over Joyce were impressive. Hrgovic fight was close. 2 knockdowns against Parker. Therefore ranked above Dubois. 6. Dubois: Recent form has been very good. Win over Hrgovic is a quality win. Looked good against Miller. Lost to #1 Usyk which is forgivable and was controversial. Beat Hrgovic who beat Zhang. Therefore ranked above Joyce who lost to Zhang. Dubois lost to Joyce but that was when both fighters were up and coming. And they both deserve respect for even fighting each other at that stage of their careers. 7. Kabayel: Has looked mighty impressive. But needs a step up in competition to see if he can hang at that level. Undefeated. 8. Joyce: Wins over Parker and Dubois put him solid in the Top 10. Not sure where his level is at since the Zhang losses. 9. Hrgovic: Has a win over Zhang which is still a quality win. Also a dangerous H2H matchup for anyone aspiring to enter the Top 10. 10. Anderson: Undefeated, young, and promotable. Shouldn’t matter but it does because it will create opportunities for him. * Ajagba, Sanchez, Bakole could be #10 as well.
Good top 10, but Dubois probably ahead of Joyce for me. Dubois was, what, 21 or 22 when Joyce beat him? I think it's reasonable to put more emphasis on his more recent work.
Destruction of Wallin and Annihilation of Ngannou does wonders for one's ranking. Fury destroyed Whyte, Wilder x2(3) looked okay for a few rounds vs Usyk. Both have Wlad's scalp. Parker had a good win over Zhang and beat a very shot Wilder. I think Parker is a solid 4. If anything, Dubois is hot on Parker's heals with his win's over Miller, Hrgovich.
@Rumsfeld Another excellent video. As you said toward the end of the video, the order of some of the fighters can be debated, but all in all you used sound logic and valid reasoning for your placements. Well done.
"No question at all about who is #1..." Love it. Great job. Here is how I see it: 1. Usyk 2. Parker (you said it...second best run) 3. Joshua 4. Dubois 5. Kabayel 6. Zhang 7. Fury (has not won an important fight in two years...lost to Ngannou) 8. Joyce/Hrgovic/Bakole/Anderson/Ajagba/Wallin (doesn't matter) 9.Joyce/Hrgovic/Bakole/Anderson/Ajagba/Wallin (doesn't matter) 10. Joyce/Hrgovic/Bakole/Anderson/Ajagba/Wallin (doesn't matter)
Now there are a bunch of mid-tier (Top 11-20) fights coming up it will be fun to put together a Top 15 or Top 20. Because it will actually be possible based on results.
I don't think most people will put a fighter above Fury and AJ at this point until they beat Fury or AJ. They fought Usyk close enough to deserve that respect. Its entirely possible they are not the 2nd and 3rd best HWs now but theres nothing H2H that gets us there.
If any boxer is allowed to rest on long past glory and sit on a top ranking for years - and then simply fight one or two boxers who are doing exactly same thing, freezing out other boxers - that is a sad affair. I do not believe in it - but is only my opinion. Fury struggle with a 37 years 0 boxing fights MMA fighter. Was close & disputable 10. His best result in past 2 years = a win over 39 year Derek Chisora. If he sits on #2 ranking until December and then give Usyk another good 12 rounds I guess he's good for #2 until late 2025? maybe so that he might even squeeze in a rematch with 0-2 Ngannou and get a KO win, which a previous commenter said does wonders for a ranking. Fury particularly has not done much since second fight with Deontay Wilder 4 1/2 years ago. Only fight versus Dillian Whyte has the case for being a win over a real contender. That already is over 2 years passed. And Whyte has done nothing since anyway. Agit Kabayel for example did just get KO wins against Frank Sanchez & Makhmudhov in past 6 months. They are better wins than decision & almost losing to 0-0 MMA boxer. If Kabayel had instead faced Ngannou and struggles, he would be rated about #1000 in world. Is truth
I agree with your ranking I think that Kabayel may soon rise the ranks, along with our dear Joe Parker
Great video and list Rummy, not much i'd quibble with there - I think the bottom 5 it's really small margins, top 5 is solid.
As usual, Rummy, a good video well reasoned. My one quibble... 2 and 3. I would reverse the order. AJ has a four fight winning streak while Fury has arguably lost his last two. AJ has wiped the floor with one of those two and destroyed another who gave Fury a close run. I think if they were to fight in the next few months, AJ would stop the bigger man. Aside from that, good list !
