1:Louis 2:Ali 3:Foreman 4:Wlad 5:Tyson 6:Marciano 7:Lewis 8:Frazier 9atterson 10:Holmes Holyfield, Liston, Dempsey, Jack Johnson and Norton complete the top 15. Patterson's achievements are criminally underrated on this forum.
Yet you put Holmes at #3. Holmes never beat a great fighter in his prime either. I don't dislike Holmes, he was great. I'm just saying a body of work can be enough to be considered great. At least Lewis beat Vitali, who was great. Shitty cut win, but still a win, and he was older and and at his heaviest.

Most people have Holmes somewhere up there. He ruled for nearly a decade, had one of the best jabs in history, and didn’t lose his championship until the tail end of his career. Had Lennox ruled for a decade like Holmes or Wlad who I also had up there, I would have placed him higher. Lennox lost his championships twice, in the middle of his reigns to Hasim Rahman and McCall. He didn’t reign as long and since he got knocked out twice rather than out pointed it detracts from his legacy. Sorry. Glad to see Lennox getting love on this particular forum.
1. Muhammad Ali 2. Larry Holmes 3. Lennox Lewis 4. Mike Tyson 5. Evander Holyfield 6. George Foreman 7. Joe Louis 8. Joe Frazier 9. Jack Dempsey 10. Vitali Klitschko
You have a good point with Charles. I always argue for him as an underrated great, and here I underrated him. Great, great fighter. Love the guy. Tunny has beaten two recognized greats in Dempsey (X2) and Greb, and is one of five heavyweight champs to have beaten every man he has fought. I stand by it. Sorry, this always upsets a few people, but Holmes is not that good. He is top 15. His 19 defenses came mostly from ducking good opposition. His best wins were dodgy, controversial affairs over the great-ish Norton and the hot-and-cold Witherspoon. No rematches on those...no WBA unification...no mandatory against Page. He contributed to the decline of boxing, not only by not unifying, but by accepting a belt from the gutter rather than fight his mando. He lost to a LHW, made an jerk out of himself insulting Marciano, and was a pain in the ass along the way, complaining about how no one respected him out of one side of his mouth while bragging about how he liked fighting little guys for big money out of the other. TO THIS DAY, he chimes in to insult Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, Tyson Fury...whoever the champion is at the moment. Hey Larry, if by some miracle this gets to you, you should have fought the best of your day rather than talking bad about guys who do. Larry Holmes is about 12-14, and you will never see him above Tunney on my list.
Chronologically: Johnson Dempsey Louis Marciano Ali Frazier Foreman Holmes Tyson Lewis HM: Wills, Liston, Holyfield, Klitschko I'm no Heavyweight expert, so I didn't even try to rank them in order. All I'm confident in is Ali #1 and Louis #2.
Yes i think he would beat Ali when he was more wiser patiënt in his boxing and when he was older he was bigger and stronger also i think he would beat Mike Tyson and larry holmes
