My ranking based on H2H ability at their best 1- Tyson Fury 2- Lennox Lewis 3- Vitali Klitschko 4- Wladimir Klitschko 5- Larry Holmes 6- Riddick Bowe 7- Muhammad Ali 8- George Foreman 9- Mike Tyson 10- Buster Douglas
Muhammad Ali Joe Louis Lennox Lewis Mike Tyson George Foreman Larry Holmes Tyson Fury Riddick Bowe Wladimir Klitschko Vitali Klitschko I reckon Usyk will break that list for me before he retires.
If you have Fury at #1, you best put Wilder on that list. He dropped in your opinion, the best H2H heavyweight of all time. Sure, Fury got up, but besides Foreman and Vitali, I don't see anyone else on that list that could take those same shots.
Honestly, why is everybody sleeping on Joe Louis? One time, I was looking at a boxingforum24 thread on the top 10 heavyweights of all time, and I was disappointed to see that some people believe that Joe Louis should be ranked as #4 under Wladimir Klitschko . Joe Louis dominated the most Hall of Famers and had one of the best dominance as a heavyweight champion. Head to head, I think he remains as competitive as he was one of the best combination punchers along with being an effective boxer-puncher of all times.
H2H shouldn't really be all that different than a normal top 10 atg list. Guys like Bowe and Vitali shouldn't be above Ali, who actually proved he can beat all types of fighters.
