Well Tarver lost to Harding, Jones, Johnson, Hopkins and Dawson at LHW.

He beat Reggie Johnson (Jones already beat), Harding (Jones already beat), Griffin (Jones already beat), Jones (who he'd already lost to), Glen Johnson (already beat Jones), Woods (Jones already beat)

So I don't think he did more at all tbh. Jones has the better wins, was a champion for longer, was p4p number 1 and was a more dominant champion.

Jones didn't beat Reggie Johnson or Griffin after 2000.

Harding retired with an arm injury in a competitive fight with Jones. Tarver gave a peak version a beatdown that he never recovered from.

Roy squeaked out a majority decision against Tarver. Tarver ended Roy's time as an elite fighter and ruined his comeback for good measure.

    Tarver=4x 175 champion after 2000
Roy=didn't win belts at 175 after 2000, just defended them against limited opposition until he ran into Tarrver

Johnson put Roy to sleep. Tarver got the better of Johnson.

None of that remotely changes what I said tbh.

All of Tarvers best work is something Jones had already done.

Jones reign as champ from 00-03 is better than Tarvers imo, comfortably so.

You're basically saying that beating Telesco, Hall, Harmon, and Gonzalez, while going 1-2 against Tarver and 0-1 against Johnson is better than beating Griffin, Reggie Johnson, and Chris Johnson, while going 2-1 against Jones and 1-1 against Johnson (two close loses with definitive rematch wins).

I'm not basically saying anything, I'm saying exactly what I said.

Beating some people Jones has already beaten isn't an impressive comparison.

Tarver only managed one successful defence of the championship he won from Jones. Every other defence he lost. Again that isn't an impressive comparison to me.

Tarver lived in Jones shadow and when he finally stepped out into the spotlight (by brutally shattering the jaw of your hero I might add) he wasn't able to sustain a high level.

I'm a huge huge fan of Tarver but I'm not ranking him ahead of Jones for this time frame at LHW.

He'd rank ahead of him as a CW though.

Jones victories at LHW since 2000
    Telesco
    Hall
    Harding
    Harmon
    Gonzalez
    Kelly
    Woods
    Tarver
    Ajamu
    Hanshaw
    Trinidad
    Sheila
    Lacey

    His losses
    Tarver
    Johnson
    Calzaghe

    Tarvers wins
    Mateem
    Carter
    Johnson
    Johnson
    Harding
    Griffin
    Jones
    Johnson
    Muriqi
    Santiago
    Woods

    Tarvers losses
    Harding
    Jones
    Johnson
    Hopkins
    Dawson
    Dawson

All of Tarvers notable victories are against people Jones already beat, apart from Glen Johnson. I just don't see any valid argument for saying Tarver should rank higher as a LHW using 2000 as a starting point.

Jones was a very dominant champion. Tarver couldn't successfully defend more than one time.

It's a no brainer. And that hurts me to say as I'm a Tarver fan and certainly no fan of Jones Jr after the whole DM debacle.

Not during the 2000`s Jones didn`t do much in the two years leading up to his win over Tarver in their first fight, that was his only decent win at 175 during the 2000`s.

Jones beat Griffin in the 90`s after losing to him by disqualification in their first close match up, while Tarver toyed with Griffin in the 2000`s.

2x over Jones and getting the best of peak Glen Johnson in a series is enormous. The Harding win is also spectacular for those who know how good he was.
