Lesnar is making huge numbers. Too bad he turned out to be a kimbo slice fighter, I dont understand how he got a tittle shot in 3 fights he lost his first one and looked amateur.

Can be big if British fighters are involved, Hatton Mayweather got 1.4 million PPV buys in the UK for example.

I think it would be more accurate to rank these by gross rather than by number of buys. UFC fights are cheaper, so of course there would be more buys.

Thats the reason Hollywood movie rankings are so much BS. They count the dollars made as reflecting the popularity of a movie. For example Titanic grossed over a $1.8 billion dollars world wide making it the #1 movie of all time but Gone With the Wind has been seen by several times more viewers and with inflation adjusted dollars is the number #1 and most succseesful movie of all time.
Similarly the UFC's numbers exceed those of boxing. Just like an election more people have voted for UFC fights by purchasing the events.

So because less people bought boxing PPVs and less people viewed boxing PPVs than the UFC ones you're saying that proves boxing is actually more popular? :think

Both have there faults, and there's no clear winner.
UFC does well because they load up good PPV cards using there established stars/ name recognition, and it seems like the sport is doing pretty well at establishing the new stars....Since there isn't many fighters to begin with SO the big names are forced to fight some of the smaller names...Smaller name man wins...and now he's a big name. GET IT?
Boxing isn't doing so well because it's a lot about politics, how much $ they'll make for the fight, big names don't fight up and comers. The PPV's don't receive good #'s because they don't load up the cards like they did at one time.

So, there ya go. Seems to make pretty good sense to me.
Also, for all you UFC fans out there that think UFC will take over boxing, and it'll be so much superior I'll say this...Only reason UFC is actually good about fighting/ less politics is because there isn't that much $ to go around YET!!! Let UFC be worth as much $ as pro boxing, and I bet your not gonna have Brock Lesnar fighting the guy who wins the Ultimate fighter Season 10....
Instead he'll be bringing Ken Shamrock back in a wheelchair, and Brock killing him in the ring.

So what are you saying boxing is still riding the coat tails of a washed boxer?...that really doesn't say much for the future.

The ppv cost is 44.99 it just went up from 39.99. To see ODL it usually cost 55-60 bucks to watch him. And UFC almost always has a great undercard and 5 main event fights.

Marquez vs Pacquiao did 525k PPV buys, and it was quoted straight from Mark Taffet of HBO.

    http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/...network&page=boxing/news/news.aspx?id=4142452

Cotto vs Margarito did about 470k buys, that article is bias as ****, the original PPV buys for Lesnar vs Couture was like 750k but after DLH vs Pac did great numbers the 1.1 million number came from the UFC.

Yahoo has a deal with the UFC, you think they are going to be non bias when it comes to the success of the sport??
