Gainer and Jeby were past prime but i fail to see how Freeman was when they fought in 1933? Also Yarosz's fights against Marshall (who he should really be 2-0 against, not 1-1) both came at the end of his career when Teddy was past prime. His broken knee cap in those first two fights against Risko was bad luck although he finally got him in their third fight.
But don't forget that at the point they fought, Yarosz had been fighting a year longer and had amassed more fights and was fighting a class above his prime weight class. We're talking about a guy who started as a welterweight, peaked at middleweight and was now fighting as a light-heavy. Gainer had always been a light-heavy. So that evens it out for me. Re: Freeman. I guess I was more just considering how many fights he'd had up to that point and how many years he'd been fighting. He does seem to have still been on quite a tear when he fought Yarosz.
