I don't particularly care what Ring says. Neither do you apparently.

kessler is certainly an A-level fighter but he's not elite. that means calzaghe still doesn't have an elite level fighter in his resume yet. so, him getting #2 over pac is stetching it a bit. i will certainly put calzaghe above jmm but still under hopkins.

    1) pbf
    2) pac
    3) hopkins
    4) calzaghe
    5) jmm
    6) cotto
    7) pavlik
    8) izzy vasquez
    9) winky
    10) rafa marquez
    11) juan diaz
    12) joan guzman

Kessler was a better fighter than a badly faded Morales AND MAB.

pac KO'd a prime mab in 2003 and morales was still a top 5-7 p4p fighter when pac KO'd him in the second fight. sasakul was an elite fighter when pac KOed him. and ledwaba was an A-level (almost elite) fighter when pac KOed him too.

No, Morales was unrated when Pacquiao beat him in the 2nd fight. He had just lost decisively to the unknown Raheem.

MAB IMO was not prime when Pacquiao beat him, but still and elite fighter. I have gone over this many times, but I still give Pacquiao immense credit for the win. But that was 4 years ago. In the past 2 years, Pacquiao has not fought a top level prime fighter for my money.

morales was certainly in the top 10 p4p during that time. everyone treated the raheem fight as a fluke. and morales was certainly still an elite fighter at the time of the second fight w/ pac.

I don't believe he was rated at all. No one thought it was a fluke. He looked old, slow, no legs.

And I don't think he was an elite fighter at all at that point. It has and will always be my opinion of that version of Morales. I don't think he was still elite when he beat Pacquiao or when he lost to MAB the 2nd time.

Chert is right. EM still in the top 10 after Raheem. When he beat Pac, he was moved up to top 5, after Raheem down to 7 or 9th, everybody thinks Raheem loss is a Fluke.

No one thought that loss was a fluke. Perhaps Pacquiao fans like to think that NOW.

I have seen nothing to substantiate that. Morales had not been top 5 since before 2000 so I know that is false.

    http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_Pound_For_Pound--2000s

And he was unrated in 2006. The question is, when were the rankings made that are listed here.

That 2006 ratings were made after Pac Koed Morales twice already. Go find the one after Raheem fight.

    i think those were year-end p4p rankings.

i recall that before the first erik-pac fight, pac was @ #5 while erik #7. then after that, erik went up to #5 and pac fell to #7. after the raheem fight, erik fell to no. 7-8, pac was about #6 at that time. erik was out of the top 10 by the end of 2006 after pac KO'd him in the second fight. it was during the third fight that erik wasn't definitely in the top 10 p4p.
