How would some of today's Top 10 Pound For Pound fighters do, IF they tried doing what Marquez did, in Jumping two weight divisions to fight the top 2 fighters in that division.

Marquez with 2 fights at 135 moved up to 147 to fight Floyd, then went back down, and then made the move up again against Pac, Lost One, Won One.

How would the following fights end up?

    1. (Highest division 154)
Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Bute at 168
Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Ward at 168

Nonito Donaire vs. Uchiyama at 130

    4. (Highest division 168)
Andre Ward vs. Hernandez limit 200
Andre Ward vs. Wlodarczyk limit 200

    5. (Highest division 147)
Timothy Bradley vs. Martinez at 160
Timothy Bradley vs. Pirog at 160

    6. (Highest division 115)
Pongsaklek Wonjongkam vs. Nishioka at 122
Pongsaklek Wonjongkam vs. Donaire at 122

    7. (Highest division 130)
Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Bradley at 140
Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Petterson at 140

---Pacquiao has moved up many divisions, and 154 was the highest he ever fought at. I'll include him anyway :deal

    8. (Highest division 154)
    Pacquiao vs Ward at 168
    Pacquiao vs Bute at 168
    (or vs Froch and Dirrell)

There's an enormous difference between moving up 12 lbs which is what Marquez did, and moving up 21 lbs which is what Floyd vs Super Middles is.

Well, this is a pointless thread. (Moving up 2 weight classes is a wee bit different when you go above 147lbs, no?)

You do know Floyd started at SFW, right?

Actually 154 to 168 would be 14 lbs, Floyd has fought at 154 vs Oscar a few years back, check youtube.

Fight night weights would probably be important though I mean Marquez weighed more than Pacqauio who doesn't rehydrated much and Floyd also doesn't rehydrated much weighing 150 lbs against Ortiz.

Well the fighters above 147 are a bit different is size, so maybe their bodies would get used to it more than a 115 fighter moving to 135, NOT many have done it.

Yes and Pac started at 108, why not ask about him? He did hold a tittle at 154:!:, how you see him vs Froch and Dirrell?

Also those 2 at top 3 P4P in the world, most fights I have up aren't even against top 3 fighters p4p, Besides Wonjongkam vs Donaire, and Bradley vs Martinez (depending on how your top 3 looks)

I get what you're saying but a lot of those other matches you put up there Is atleast 10-15 pounds on fight night between the fighters. But Marquez at light weight would weigh around 145 lbs and Pacqauio weighs 148 lbs at welterweight so no real size difference there. And Floyd weighed 150 lbs against Ortiz so neither Pacqauio or Floyd are really much bigger.

The Klitchkos have over 20, 30 pound on some fighters, don't tell me a few of the TOP 10 Most skilled fighters couldn't fight top fighters two divisions up from the highest division they ever fought at, Some have done it, so it's not irrational, Roy Jones, Toney, Duran, Napoles, Armstrong, Marquez, Pacquiao, Mosley, and others, it's not as if I'm talking about Gamboa going at it vs Ward, or May vs Hernandez. But I guess it might as well be impossible.

Should Marquez fight at 147, or should Floyd and May fight at 135? which one would you prefer?

Anyway about the the fights you listed Gamboa and Donaire would probably stand the best chance to move up two weights but even still they likely lose.

Mayweather already went up 5 weight classes(super featherweight to light middleweight) the same amount Marquez went up to fight Pacquiao(featherweight to Welterweight) so this is not a fair comparison at all. Not to mention the fact that going straight from light Middle to super middle is waaaaaaayy harder than going from lightweight to welterweight. A lot of fighters have gone straight from lightweight to Welterweight successfully.

pacquiao already has done it before when he moved-up from just 1 fight at 135 to fight oscar at 147 then fought cotto at 145 soon. and pacquiao came from a very much lower weight of 105 when marquez was a career 126. so to ask pacquiao to fight ward and bute at 168 is a terrible comparison.

    Also I don't understand how Marquez's highest weight is 135 but Mayweather's is 154.

Mayweather had 1 fight at 154 (he came in as a welterweight)

Marquez had 1 fight at 147 (came in as a junior welter) and 1 fight against likar Ramos at 140lbs
