My Top 10 fwiw 1. Floyd 2. Pacquaio 3. Hopkins 4. Mosley 5. Williams 6. Dawson 7. Haye 8. JMM 9. Donaire 10. Erdei
He hasn't beaten the competition, that's the point. Pavlik knocked out Taylor who had beaten Hopkins x2 and was the undisputed MW champion at the time aswell as top 10 P4P in his own right. Ward spanked Kessler, who was marginal top 20, had beaten only the likes of Markus Beyer, Anthony Mundine and Librado Andrade and was merely a belt-holder at the time. Ward could warrant a place in the top 20, but some way off top 10 at this point.
I wonder where he'll be now after he just won every round, or pretty much every round against the Ring's number 1.
Why? If he'd cleared out 175 I'd understand, but he didn't. If he'd moved up and beaten the lineal cruiserweight champion I'd understand, but he beat a 40-year old belt-holder who was fortunate not to lose his previous fight.
These lists are subjective, I compose my lists as to who I feel have proved that they are among the leading talents in the sport. Ward got on my radar with his performance against Miranda, and he's cemented my belief in him with a domination over the number one ranked Super Middleweight in the world according to Ring Magazine. He's among the leading talents in the sport for me, and unlike the Cubans, he proved it against the best fighter in his division.
Ward has the ability of a top 5. However, his accomplishments arent quite p4p top 10 to me yet. He's top 15 though.
Top 15 is where I've got him- I had Kessler top 15, so it's only fair to put Ward there. Unless the listmaker refuses to rank heavyweights though, I don't know how you can put them (particularly Wlad) behind Ward. I'd like to see that argument laid out.
I think some of you got williams pretty low. He has been handing out dominating performances. I would have him ahead of JMM
You see here is the problem. this guy is following the Calzaghe plan of boxing. Fighting one no hoper after another. The best fighter he has faced since picking up the title several years ago is Tito Mendoza, he fought him to a SD. Mendoza is a guy that has been dominated in every step up fight that he has ever had except for his fight with Erdei. Just having a title in Germany seems to be enough, facing top level guys seem to be out of the question. Erdei dont deserve to be in the top 10 based on the lack of top notch fighters on his resume. Im not going to argue that FACT because you would be hard pressed to convince anyone outside of Germany that he has fought elite level fighters.
